We jet off to Santiago next week.

Remember, BBC Scotland will air the trip to Chile on 20 July, with an 20:00 BST kick-off, as well as the final match in the tour against Uruguay in Montevideo a week later.

I'll be doing the TV commentary on that one alongside former Scotland hooker Fraser Brown. Join me!

Until then, have a good one.

  2. Rowe the highlight for spent Scotspublished at 01:28 13 July

    FT: USA 7-42 Scotland

Last week, I tried to be quite upbeat about the scorefest in Ottawa. We saw a lot of young players make their debuts at Test level, and come through with flying colours.

This time, it's harder to see the positives. Okay, the win was comfortable. But the game was terrible, not helped by the energy-sapping conditions or the error-strewn opposition.

Plenty of experienced players in that Scotland team, players who have shown their fitness time and again, looked absolutely done in and need of a rest.

At least Kyle Rowe looked lively at full-back, an area where Scotland desperately need depth.

  3. Full-time USA 7-42 Scotlandpublished at 01:24 13 July

Scotland get the job done in solid, if unspectacular, style.

Three first-half tries from Ewan Ashman, and a record-equalling score from Duhan van der Merwe, meant the game was done and dusted by half-time and there was to be no repeat of Houston in 2018.

The second-half was a snoozefest and, given the time difference, plenty of Scottish fans would have been quite happy to turn off early.

    Reacton to come...

Scotland concede the free-kick at scrum-time, and the US scamper for the line.

Ethan McVeigh, a US sub, seems to be held up on the line - he's denied a debut score.

The US have a late foray into the Scots territory and they're keen to end this game with a try. Advantage is coming, Robbie Smith is the man pinged.

The US will tap and trundle.

You can guess what's coming here. Knock-on.

Training in 38° during the week and playing in 25° - not sure how this Test benefits any of the established Scotland players at the end of a long season.

The rain has started to pour down in Washington DC, just to add to the intrepid conditions. I wonder how many knock-ons we'll see in the final five minutes.

Matt Currie is also on, for his second cap. Not many debutants in the squad after last week's carousel of new faces.

    Matt Fagerson

A knock on from the USA allows Scotland a scrum on the five-metre line. The hosts are tiring quicker than the Scottish audience watching this second-half.

It's a huge shove from the Scottish pack, they push the scrum over the line and Fagerson drops on the ball over the line.

    Ross Thompson adds the extras.

    USA 7-35 Scotland

Scotland's latest back line moves is in full swing. Quick hands from Sione Tuipulotu and Ross Thompson allow Kyle Rowe to grubber a kick through...

But it won't sit kindly for Kyle Steyn and the Glasgow skipper spills over the line.

    Almost another for Scotland.

Scotland are finally able to make some headway, but the visitors wore some huge hits there. Sione Tuipulotu, Ross Thompson and Matt Fagerson were all on the receiving end of some hard tackles.

There's another knock on, and we trudge towards the last 10 minutes.

It's a long time to be running around in this kind of heat and we're seeing a good bit of fatigue setting in now.

Luke Crosbie is the latest Scotland sub off the bench, replacing Jamie Ritchie.

Meanwhile, the Scots are going backwards in this attacking phase. Shovelling rubbish, as an old coach of mine used to say. Hello Mr Murray, if you're reading along!

There's Saia Uhila on for his US debut in the second row.

37 years of age, making his bow in international rugby.

Jamie Ritchie spills as Scotland battered into the 22m... the US clear, and then Ross Thompson fails to gather the kick.

    A nervy start for the now-Edinburgh fly-half.

Ross Thompson is also on, replacing Adam Hastings, while Max Williamson replaces Alex Craig.

Under 20 minutes left, and I'm unsure what we'll learn from the rest of this one. The second half has yet to really kick into life.

That was quicker than I thought. My apologies.

Jamie Dobie has come on, and he's playing at scrum-half. Wonder of wonders! A decent outing from George Horne again. I wonder if he's playing his way into the starting scrum-half spot in the autumn.

Robbie Smith is also on at hooker, replacing hat-trick hero Ewan Ashman.

Nate Augspurger is in absolute agony, having clashed knees with Tommaso Boni as the US broke forward. That looked like a really nasty one.

We'll take an early water break as a result. You could maybe nip to the toilet or make a very quick brew.

Don't go to bed, though. You've made it this far.

Elliot Millar Mills also replaces Murphy Walker - how encouraging it is to see the young tighthead back in a Scotland shirt.

Kyle Rowe has become more involved since that George Horne try. He could dance by you a phone box.

    USA 7-35 Scotland

Another spilled ball from a US maul. They've offered a sterner defence than the Canadians, but they've been unbelievably sloppy on the ball.

    Coughed up again.

Meanwhile, Rory Sutherland has replaced Pierre Schoeman in the front row.

A good steal at the line-out from Scott Cummings, but as Huw Jones tries to set Duhan van der Merwe free, he instead bullets the pass into touch.

Scotland back under pressure in their own 22m, and Matt Fagerson concedes a penalty. To the corner we go.
