Well, what a dramatic morning or afternoon in Brisbane. Depending on where you joined us from.

During the first half, there was a delay of more than 30 minutes because of a storm with the players taken off the field after 12 minutes.

Wales shrugged off the disruption with player-of-the-match Nel Metcalfe scoring two tries and centre Hannah Dallavalle grabbing the other.

When you have captain Alex Callender and the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) head of rugby Belinda Moore in tears after the final whistle, you can see the magnitude of the victory.

We will do it all again next Friday in Sydney. If you need some more rugby fix for this morning, join our BBC colleagues for the British and Irish Lions second Test in Melbourne against the Wallabies where Andy Farrell’s side will be aiming to clinch the series.

But, for now, it is goodbye from us.

  2. Player of the matchpublished at 07:37 British Summer Time

    Australia 12-21 Wales

Full-back Nel Metcalfe was named player of the match after scoring two tries.

“It was great to get the first win under Lynny [Sean Lynn]," said Metcalfe.

"We’ve worked really hard to get the win after eight weeks of pre-season, so it just feels great to get the win.

"You can pin teams in the corner and it’s hard to exit ,especially when it rains like this but we still wanted to play.

"We still showed that, we still moved the ball and that’s what we wanted to do.

"We are a young group, but we have the vibes and energy since Lynny has come in, and with Alex [Callender] and Kate [Williams] as co-captains.

"Hopefully we can build on this next week and into the World Cup."

I think we'll see Wales work on their scrum a bit before the World Cup, but apart from that they looked ready.

This was a great performance by Wales.

A huge improvement. I am so proud of this team. We have talked about how hard they have worked and to finally get the win is great.

This is a major success for Sean Lynn’s side in the first time they have played an away Test match in Australia.

It was achieved with the backdrop of a first-half delay of more than 30 minutes because of a storm in Brisbane.

Full-back Nel Metcalfe scored two tries while captain Alex Callender was outstanding in a dynamic defensive display from the tourists.

It is a first win for the new coach Lynn following a clean sweep of Six Nations defeats.

The two sides will meet again in Sydney next Friday.

Lleucu George's kicking in this second half has been outstanding. She has kept Wales going forward and also provided the grubber for Hannah Dallavalle's try.

Wales are just 10 minutes away from a first win of 2025 and a first win under Sean Lynn.

It's squeaky bum time for everyone here in red.

Wales' defence is much improved, their organisation is far better, their discipline is much better, and they're putting in those big tackles.

There's still some more things that could be better, but if you look at where they've come from, it's a huge improvement.

It's great to see Sisilia Tuipulotu returning to the pitch in a Welsh shirt, she's huge for the team both on and off the pitch.

She's a great character, but also a real ball-carrying threat.

There are replacements on both sides but the most popular one will be the return of prop Sisilia Tuipulotu who comes on for Donna Rose.

Tuipulotu, 21, missed the Six Nations because of hamstring surgery and this is a welcome comeback just before the World Cup.

Wales had some joy in the scrum in the first half but an Australia set-piece surge forces the tourists to concede possession close to their line.

Wales captain Alex Callender then produces a brilliant turnover penalty to stop the Australia pressure. Great example from the skipper.
