Some of the Scotland goal-line defence has been absolutely outstanding.

They can only do this for so long, though. They need to find a way out before Ireland finally burst the dam.

Linda Djougang is held up over the line by desperate Scottish defence. Ireland broke through thanks to a brilliant run by Brittany Hogan who was ably assisted by Vicky Elmes-Kinlan.

The visitors set up camp under the Scottish posts but the tight head could not ground the ball as they looked to score just before the half-time whistle.

Superb work on their own line by Scotland.

Might Ireland rue not taking the points? Scotland's goal line defence is superb and forces a turnover. After clearing their lines through Helen Nelson, their kick chase is rapid too and they force a knock on.

Scrum down, blue ball between the 22 and 10 but it is now an Ireland free kick for an early engage!

Back-to-back kickable penalties are sent into touch by Dannah O'Brien. The latter of the two has Ireland on the Scotland line...

A superb break from Aoife Dalton has the Scottish defence scrambling. She is well hauled back by Chloe Rollie but Ireland move the ball quickly and Dalton's centre partner Enya Breen puts a grubber in behind.

It is just too long for the chasing Dannah O'Brien and rolls the wrong side of the corner flag so will be a 22 dropout for Scotland.

Dalton appeared to roll her ankle in the tackle but is back after some running repairs.

Excellent throw, excellent jump, excellent execution and a fantastic finish.

Scotland were targeting three home wins, they know they can't do that, but can they psychologically adapt, turn their brains around and go two from three?

    Lana Skeldon

Scotland's first meaningful attack yields five points! An excellent turnover from Evie Gallagher puts them on the front foot and Ireland are penalised for an offside at the ruck.

Scotland go for the corner and are rewarded as hooker Lana Skeldon dots down at the back of the maul.

The wind takes Helen Nelson's conversion wide but the hosts are right back in this!

Another HIA for Ireland as Edel McMahon exits to get checked up. That means we have a debut for Jane Clohessy - yes that Clohessy!

We know about Ireland's defence under [assistant coach] Hugh Hogan, they work so hard, but that's a much better passage from Scotland.

That's what we want to see in terms of the Scottish attack.

Scotland go coast-to-coast with some good hands but the Irish defence holds form and Rachel McLachlan stumbles meaning a pass goes astray into touch.

Dannah O'Brien's excellent game with the boot continues as she turns the hosts around near their own 22 with a kick to touch.

  12. Replacementpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 26 April

Perhaps some nerves from debutant full-back Aoife Corey as she fumbles a kick into touch.

Some mixed injury news for Ireland, however, as Niamh O'Dowd has passed an HIA and returns but the stretcher has been summoned for Dorothy Wall, who went down off the ball holding her left Achilles. She is sitting up on the cart which is a positive but she is replaced by Claire Boles on 18 minutes.

Four [handling errors] for Scotland, three for Ireland.

Both sides will want to tidy that up.

An opportunity goes begging for Ireland as a lineout deep in Scottish territory slips through the fingers of Dorothy Wall.

Neve Jones' throw was just too high for the Ireland blindside.

Searing break from Molly Scuffil-McCabe and Amee-Leigh Costigan was exactly where she needed to be.

    Great start for Ireland.

    Amee-Leigh Costigan (con O'Brien)

That was all about Molly Scuffil-McCabe! A scintilating break off the base of the ruck from the Irish scrum half sees her streak away down the left wing.

She offloads to Costigan who has the pace to beat the covering defence and go over. Dannah O'Brien nails a superb touchline conversion to boot!

    Andy Burke

It's been a very scrappy start with a lot of handling errors.

Both teams clearly want to play at a high tempo but the accuracy just isn't there in these opening exchanges.

The ball is looking like a bar of soap there as nobody can keep their hands on it!

After alternate knock ons cancel out an advantage to Scotland. Aoife Dalton can't hang on.

It is a scrum to Scotland and Ireland will have a new loose head in the shape of Sadhbh McGrath as she replaces Niamh O'Dowd. We believe it is an HIA but will keep you posted.

Another excellent kick out of hand from Dannah O'Brien puts Scotland under pressure but a clearance kick isn't held by Vicky Elmes-Kinlan and it is a scrum down on their own 10-metre line for the home side.

A net gain there for the Bryan Easson's side.

  20. Postpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 26 April

An excellent kick from Dannah O'Brien deep into Scotland territory puts the hosts on the back foot before Ireland turn over.

However, Aoife Dalton is pinged for not releasing the ball and the hosts clear.
