  11. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Edinburgh 12-12 Leinster

    Edinburgh cause themselves problems again.

Ross Thompson wants a kick through to go beyond the try-line, but it bounces awkwardly and he takes it back over the line himself before dotting down.

It will be a Leinster scrum 5m out, and it's a huge chance for the visitors on the stroke of half-time.

Thompson should have really gathered it and cleared to touch.

    Edinburgh 12-12 Leinster

Wes Goosen gets away with one for Edinburgh.

He takes his time over a clearing kick in his own 22 and is charged down by the onrushing Leinster defence.

The ball skips out for a goal-line drop out, much to Goosen's relief.

    Duhan van der Merwe

Death, taxes and Duhan van der Merwe scoring tries.

The penalty advantage frees Edinburgh up, and its's all about Ross Thompson, who shapes to kick before running it.

He works some space, and some clever hands, including a really nice pass from Jamie Ritchie releases Van der Merwe out wide.

The big man doesn't need a second invitation and he gallops over for his first score of the new season.

    Thompson's conversion attempt drifts wide.

    Charlie Tector

Leinster lead for the first time tonight.

It's a lovely finish from Charlie Tector, but it all comes from a really weak Ali Price box-kick.

He doesn't get the required height or distance, and Tector takes full advantage, first claiming the high ball before stepping inside the final defender to score.

    The conversion is good.

    Tom English
BBC Scotland's chief sports writer at Hive Stadium

How many times did we see that kind of thing from Edinburgh last season - scoring then quickly conceding? Too many times.

And it was a soft try, wholly avoidable. The defensive line speed was not exactly breakneck.

    A decent game so far.

    Tommy O'Brien

    Leinster hit back immediately.

Some gorgeous hands send the ball wide, with Sam Prendergast dictating proceedings, and Tommy O'Brien pins his ears back to score in the corner.

O'Brien looks to have hurt himself in the process and has been replaced by Rob Russell.

    Prendergast's conversion attempt slides wide.
