Luka Matkava tries to steal a few yards to make his penalty attempt slightly easier, but referee Jeremy Rozier picks up his tee and puts it back to the original mark.

Not that it made a difference as Matkava banged over the kick.

    Luka Matkava

Edinburgh concede two penalties in a row, and Black Lion are now knocking on the door... but they go for the points.

Interesting, given their man advantage. Matkava slots from close range.

  3. Sin-bin Pierre Schoeman (Edinburgh)published at 16 mins

    Edinburgh 10-0 Black Lion

It's a brilliant ruck from Black Lion that turns the ball over, with Luka Ivanishvili picking up.

He's tackled and from the ruck, Schoeman cynically slaps the ball out of the hands of the Black Lion number nine.

He holds his hands up in apology, but Jeremy Rozier has his yellow card in the air.

Young Lewis Wells has looked assured in the opening moments of his senior debut.

A couple of nice touches and one excellent take in the air so far. Let's hope he continues to see plenty of the ball.

Marshall Sykes has just been thrown through the air and onto his back.

He's two metres tall, it looked like someone has tossed a ginormous caber.

He wasn't happy about it either.

  6. Sam Skinner celebrates his scorepublished at 12 mins

    Ben Healy

Healy is going for the posts, after Edinburgh win another penalty as Mikheil Gachechiladze is pinged at the breakdown.

The Black Lion number seven also has one of the most magnificent moustaches I've ever seen.

Anyway, Healy slots the kick and Edinburgh extend their lead.

  8. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Edinburgh 7-0 Black Lion

Darcy Graham has just been cut in half by Luka Ivanishvili, the Black Lion captain and number eight.

It's a huge hit, picking Graham up and driving him onto the astroturf. He gingerly gets back to his feet, a minute or two later.

Not a sight that Scotland fans will want to see.

  9. converted try

Converted try EDINBURGH 7-0 Black Lionpublished at 1 min

    Sam Skinner

With 75 seconds on the clock, Edinburgh are under the posts already!

It's relatively simple, through the hands off the back of a line-out. It's Darcy Graham who makes it, hitting Ben Healy's pass on an inside line and dancing away from two tackles.

He pops inside to Wes Goosen, who has Skinner on his shoulder. The kick is good, and Edinburgh are ahead early doors.

That is us under way, with Jeremy Rozier the referee in the middle, peeping his whistle.

Edinburgh are in their home navy kit, while Black Lion wear white.

The game has begun at Stade Jean-Dauger between Bayonne and Gloucester. Remember, you can listen to that live at the top of this page.

    Edinburgh v Black Lion (13:00)

Created in 2021, they are - for all intents and purposes - a fair chunk of the Georgian national team.

They started playing in the Challenge Cup in 2023, and won their first game that year - beating the Scarlets in Wales.

Earlier this season, they squeezed past Vannes in France to pick up their only win of the campaign so far.

Sandro Todua is a player to watch out for. The 37-year-old winger has 115 caps for the national side.

Ah, Richard Cockerill. Still a slightly divisive figure in these parts, four years after his four-year tenure at Edinburgh came to an end.

"I taught this club what work ethic looked like," he said to one local paper about his stint in the capital. Think it's fair to say time he's still the abrasive, outspoken coach we all knew.

The former England hooker came in to shake things up, and he did just that. It worked initially, before turning sour towards the end of his time at Murrayfield.

He's now the coach of both Black Lion and the Georgian national team.

I should add, we also have live radio coverage of another game in pool three - Bayonne v Gloucester.

The result of that one could have a big impact on Edinburgh's final standings, so we'll keep you across that.

It will be available to listen to at the top of this page.

  14. Winger Wells to make pro debutpublished at 12:50 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January

    Edinburgh v Black Lion (13:00)

Edinburgh have made six changes from the side that beat Vannes last week for today's game.

Lewis Wells, 22, replaces Duhan van der Merwe - who has a minor ankle knock - and makes his senior debut for the club.

Charlie Shiel is the only other change to the back line, with Ali Price dropping to the bench.

In the forwards, Paddy Harrison and Paul Hill start in the front row in place of Dave Cherry and Javan Sebastian, while Tom Dodd and Magnus Bradbury come into the back row with Jamie Ritchie and Ben Muncaster not involved.

Or Gamarjoba, as they say in Georgia.

It's Edinburgh's final Challenge Cup game, and they sit top of pool three with two wins from three, two try-scoring bonus points, and a losing bonus point to boot.

Qualification is secured but they'll want to finish on top and nail down a home tie in the next round.

The opposition in their way is Richard Cockerill's Black Lion side. Remember him?

Right, let's look at the teams.
