    FT: Ospreys 26-13 Dragons

It was certainly a slow burner, and not a game anyone will be in a hurry to watch back, but the Ospreys got the job done.

They needed a bonus-point win to keep their play-off hopes alive going into the final game of the season and they achieved just that.

Dragons moved 6-0 ahead in the early stages, but tries from Dewi Lake (two), Reuben Morgan-Williams and Keiran Williams put Ospreys in command.

Dragons did hit back with a try of their own through Will Reed, and the visitors finished strongly, but they wasted their two big chances with knock-ons.

On to Judgement Day we go! Join us for that on 1 June!

  2. 'We don't want to make up numbers' - Tipuricpublished at 16:56 18 May

    FT: Ospreys 26-13 Dragons

Ospreys captain Justin Tipuric told Premier Sport: "We knew a win wasn't enough to today, we changed our game plan a bit.

"The boys stuck at it and we got there in the end.

"Morgan Morris has been amazing for years now, he's safe for us, class. He's a great bloke as well.

"It's been one of those seasons where we've always tried to be in the play-offs.

"Wining the Welsh Shield is nice but you want to be in the play-offs at the end of the season.

"Every year we push, we don't want to make up numbers, and hopefully we get there."

Credit to the Ospreys, in a poor season they have probably been the one shining light for Wales.

They have secured the Welsh Shield so it's job done from their perspective.

It hasn't been the greatest spectacle.

Ospreys have got the job done but I was expecting more from a Welsh derby.

I was expecting more from Dragons in the second half.

  5. Full-time - Ospreys 26-13 Dragonspublished at 16:49 18 May

The Ospreys keep the Dragons out and that will be that!

The Ospreys win the Welsh Shield, and keep their slim chances of reaching the United Rugby Championship play-offs alive.

That could have changed by the time they line-up for their final game against Cardiff on 1 June, but for today it is job done.

The Dragons win the penalty at the scrum, but they will not have time to turn this game around now.

They can earn a losing bonus-point with a late try here, and they have the line-out a few metres out.

Ryan Woodman is held up in the tackle and Ospreys will have the put in at the scrum.

That's really good from Reuben Morgan-Williams. That was really good defence from the Ospreys.

The Ospreys are living a little dangerously here.

Aaron Wainwright breaks down the left wing but a couple black Ospreys jerseys get back to stop the Wales back-row finding an offload.

Reuben Morgan-Williams - who won the ball back - then clears out of the Ospreys 22 and more valuable seconds tick away.

Hopefully Keiran Williams gets an opportunity for Wales this summer.

He has shown he can do it in the URC. I'd like to see him get the chance to do it at international level.

A penalty goes the way of the Dragons just inside Ospreys territory, Sam Parry penalised for not rolling away.

The kick to the corner is a good one, and the Dragons will have an attacking line-out about 10 metres out.

Can they put the pressure on the Ospreys in these final few minutes?

Ospreys look really good when they get the ball into the wider channels.

Luke Morgan has looked dangerous, Dan Edwards has pulled the strings.

Ospreys spill the ball forward and Aaron Wainwright puts a thumping clearing kick which any scrum-half or fly-half would be proud of.

Hints of his footballing background in the way he kicked that ball to touch.

The ball is in the hands of the Ospreys players inside Dragons territory, exactly where they want it.

Every time the tempo goes up, the Dragons look quite dangerous.

But the Ospreys have been too clinical, too streetwise. They have controlled the tempo of the game for the most part.

    Ospreys 26-13 Dragons

The game has got a little scrappy in this last few minutes, during which the Dragons are looking more threatening than they have for the majority of this game.

One converted try from the visitors could set up a nervy finish, so Ospreys need to stay focused.
