Player of the match Helena Rowland on playing on the wing as opposed to full-back: "It's a bit different, I've not played a huge amount there. It was a chance to go out there, run and have a bit of freedom. I enjoyed it out there, whether or not it will stick, it was a fun run out.

"I don't score that many tries so to get three in a game is always nice. We put some nice stuff out there, from off the training park. There's still some stuff to fix up, as we knew there always would be. It's the first game after quite a long time. It was enjoyable out there and we've got to focus on next week now.

"We've got a big few months coming up. It's all about trying to live every moment. We've definitely tried to keep evolving our game. Hopefully it will come together. This is just the start of our journey and hopefully there's more to come."

  6. 'We were relentless'published at 16:57 BST 2 August

England centre Meg Jones to BBC Sport: "We were relentless, just look at the scoreboard. We have put into practice what we have been doing in training. We are our biggest critics.

"We are bored of playing each other! It was important to show that we are in good stead going into the World Cup. Spain have some good players and flair, they should be proud but we stuck it to them. A home World Cup doesn't come round often, let's enjoy it."

A great game to see and a great advert for rugby. I know it's a big scoreline but Spain were in the game for parts.

In terms of England they've been given the opportunity to see where they're at and try new things.

Overall, a great performance. You can't knock a 97-point performance.

A fantastic performance and a great start for England to kick-off their World Cup campaign.

And you look over to the crowd and see all those young faces. That's what the Red Roses continue to do. Inspire.

England rack up a record tally against Spain. They almost racked up the 100, but 97 will do nicely.

    Meg Jones

Absolutely brilliant from Sadia Kabeya who is a wrecking ball through the middle of Spain, and Meg Jones is alive to pick up the pieces and score.

A cracking try again. What we do need to do is recognise Abi Burton's contribution in this. Great hand off. Phenomenal stuff.

Off the bench, and over the line. Trademark stuff from Abby Dow in the corner. Another fine conversion by Emma Sing.
