Liam: I’ll stick my neck out and say Bath will nick it in the second half. Fantastic battle from both sides so far though.

    HT: Bath 18-15 Sale

It's worth a reminder that Bath have made The Rec somewhat of a fortress this season.

They have lost just twice in the league and and both were narrow defeats, with Leicester and Saracens the only ones to prevail.

The way Sale finished that first half, I imagine they will feel pretty confident about pushing the hosts to the limit today.

It's not long now until the second half gets under way.

Jamie in Marlow: What a great first half. I think it’s too close to call about who is going to win.

Anyone keen to stick their neck out with a prediction after that first 40 minutes?

It was an absorbing first half.

Bath had the better of the early exchanges, they’ve been inventive and creative and were quicker than Sale.

When it was 18-5 you felt if Bath could stay on top they could put them away before half-time but it just shows Sale’s character.

They don’t give up and they’re worthy of dragging themselves back into the game. It’s a fair reflection of the half that the score is so tight.

  8. 'Exhilarating first half'published at 16:16 British Summer Time 1 June

    Bath 18-15 Sale

    Martin Haag
Ex-Bath forward on BBC Radio Bristol

This first half has been exhilarating, it has been superb.

One thing that has to change in the second half though is the error count because when one of these sides has made an error the other has punished them.

  9. Penalty: Bath 18-15 Salepublished at 39 mins

    George Ford

Well, this has been a transformative few minutes for Sale.

Bath are again pinged close to their line at the scrum, and George Ford tees up the kick.

The England international lands the penalty and just like that, it's a three-point game.

  10. 'Sale starting to ask Bath more questions'published at 16:11 British Summer Time 1 June

    Bath 18-12 Sale

    It's a perfect drill.

Tommy Taylor is just riding shotgun on the back of it and they were through Bath before they could get more defenders.

Sale are just starting to play better. They are getting big men to carry the ball and are starting to ask Bath more questions.

Sale have the try their hard work deserves!

This score really is a carbon copy of Sale's first.

This time it's a shock of blond hair at the heart of the maul, as Tommy Taylor goes over for the visitors.

George Ford is this time accurate with his conversion and reduces the deficit further.

    Bath 18-5 Sale

It was Tom O'Flaherty who was the one to have been cut down by Lawrence when Sale looked to be in.

Sale will reset now with a lineout close to the line. What can they do now?

    Better from Sale.

Much more intent and better accuracy.

O’Flaherty is away but it’s an amazing cover tackle then the offload went awry.

Sale showed a cutting edge that time.

    Bath 18-5 Sale

Sale so nearly orchestrate a magical try.

Just as Joe Carpenter is forced out of touch, the Sharks full-back flings a pass around his back.

Bath, however, scramble to close down the chance.

But the reprieve is only momentary as Sale come back at them down the left.

In the end, it takes defensive hustle from Ollie Lawrence to shut that raid down.

    Bath 18-5 Sale

He’s cleared the crossbar there by three or four feet.

That’s a great hit by Russell.

  16. Penalty: Bath 18-5 Salepublished at 27 mins

    Finn Russell

Finn Russell was quick to point to the posts for the penalty.

It's a loooooongggg kick, but the Scotland fly-half is right on the money and extends Bath's lead.

We go to the television match official after a head clash in the middle of the pitch.

Sam Dugdale caught Alfie Barbeary right on the halfway line.

Dugdale gets a quick word from referee Luke Pearce, but he escapes a card.

    Bath 15-5 Sale

    Martin Haag

It's a lot different to the first try. Lawrence came short and then Du Toit. It all comes from the mistake and the kick.

It was very clinical from Bath.

Beno Obano has definitely made a difference since coming back into the team.

From there he is a very difficult man to stop.

Ollie Lawrence does all the damage off the back of the line-out to get Bath within striking distance.

The ball was begging to be worked to Beno Obano, and the 120kg, 183cm wrecking ball eventually smashes over for Bath's second try.

Finn Russell then lands the extras.

Will Muir has put in an absolute pearl of a kick for Bath and has the hosts on the attack.

He lands a wonderful 50:22, and Bath are after their second try of the game now.

    Lineout to come....
