    Munster 24-20 Ulster

Was it perfect from either side? No, but it was a thoroughly entertaining half of rugby at Thomond Park.

Ulster will be disappointed with some of their concessions but they are still very much in this heading into the sheds. If the first half is anything to go by, the second will be a heart racing watch!

  2. Penalty Munster 24-20 Ulsterpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 9 May

    Jack Murphy

With the last play of the half Jack Murphy brings Ulster back within four after Tadhg Beirne was penalised at the ruck again.

It was straight in front and one he would land in his sleep.

    Munster 24-17 Ulster

What a turnover from Tom Farrell. Ulster are in the 22 but, after Peter O'Mahony chops down Michael Lowry, Farrell gets over the ball perfectly.

If you are a coach wanting to show how to win a turnover, that was textbook.

  4. try

Converted try - Munster 24-17 Ulsterpublished at 20:15 British Summer Time 9 May

    Niall Scannell (con Crowley)

Munster power over the line and Niall Scannell touches down... we think. Truthfully the cameras are inconclusive but Adam Jones is closer than me and he gives it.

Iain Henderson does as a captain should and asks if the referee is sure but the Welshman is and there is no TMO intervention. Jack Crowley is finding his shooting boots as his conversion is good.

Munster lead for the first time and have the bonus point in the bag before the break.

    Munster 17-17 Ulster

No cards but a stern message to both captains from the referee. He was playing an advantage and Munster have a lineout five metres out.

    Munster 17-17 Ulster

This game is really getting spciy! A proper inter-pro as Jacob Stockdale is involved with some afters with Craig Casey before Matty Rea gives Peter O'Mahony a farewell message up close.

We will see what Adam Jones and his officiating team make of this...

  7. try

Converted try - Munster 17-17 Ulsterpublished at 20:06 British Summer Time 9 May

    Tadhg Beirne (con Crowley)

I can barely keep up with this crazy game! These two are trading blows like heavyweight boxers and, having seen out Scott Wilson's yellow card with their lead intact, Jack Murphy gets charged down in his own 22 by Tadhg Beirne.

Beirne, who will be going to Australia with the British and Irish Lions this summer, beats the hitherto impressive Ulster out half to the loose ball and dives on it for a score.

It is third time lucky off the tee for Jack Crowley to level us up again on half an hour.

    Phew!

  8. try

Converted try - Munster 10-17 Ulsterpublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 9 May

    Jude Postlethwaite (con Murphy)

More superb ball handling this time from the visitors! Munster's parity doesn't last long as they cough up possession in their own 22 and Ulster make them pay.

Iain Henderson swings it wide to Jude Postlethwaite who still had a man to beat but he barrels over the top of Thaakir Abrahams for a powerful score. Jack Murphy puts the conversion over again with a superb strike.

  9. try

Try - Munster 10-10 Ulsterpublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 9 May

    Tom Farrell

That is a stunning score! Munster's handling is sensational as Calvin Nash makes ground on the left initially. Thaakir Abrahams then does some stepping through the Ulster defence before they move the ball out right.

Lurking there is Peter O'Mahony who produces a stunning step of his own before offloading to Tom Farrell to score. Jack Crowley's radar is off so far as he drags the conversion wide.

  10. Penalty - Munster 5-10 Ulsterpublished at 19:56 British Summer Time 9 May

    Jack Murphy

Ulster have managed the man disadvantage well so far and, after Tadhg Beirne gets caught on the wrong side of a ruck, Jack Murphy continues striking the ball sweetly and dissects the uprights.

There was some confusion as it seemed like Iain Henderson wanted to go for the corner but the tee was already on and Ulster won't turn their nose up at three more points.

    Munster 5-7 Ulster

Straight from kick off, Scott Wilson takes a seat for ten minutes as he catches Gavin Coombes with a shoulder to the head. It is mitigated down from a red due to the Munster ball carrier dipping at the last.

This will be a tough ten minutes for the men in white.

    Munster 5-7 Ulster

It is a TMO check as Scott Wilson could be in trouble for a head shot on Gavin Coombes.

  13. try

Try - Munster 5-7 Ulsterpublished at 19:49 British Summer Time 9 May

    Michael Milne

Similar to the Ulster try, Munster keep the ball in the pack and it is the recent arrival from Leinster who gets his first try for the men in red.

Jack Crowley will be disappointed with his conversion effort that drifts wide.

    Munster 0-7 Ulster

Iain Henderson is pinged for not rolling away and it's a Munster lineout five metres from the Ulster line.

Better from the hosts and Ulster are under pressure.

    Munster 0-7 Ulster

Ten minutes gone and it has been a bit messy. A lot of kick tennis with some less than clean catches from both sides.

Munster win a penalty in the middle of the park for offside and Jack Crowley puts the ball into touch on the Ulster ten metre line.

  16. try

Converted try - Munster 0-7 Ulsterpublished at 19:41 British Summer Time 9 May

    Stuart McCloskey (con Murphy)

That's a try that will really please Richie Murphy. One visit to the Munster 22 and they come away with a score. Ulster win the lineout and recycle the ball through the phases in close quarters.

Eventually Iain Henderson picks and offloads nimbly for Stuart McCloskey to crash over from close range. Jack Murphy nails a difficult conversion.

    Great start for Ulster!

    Munster 0-0 Ulster

Munster have the early share of the ball but Ulster win a lineout. It is stolen by Peter O'Mahony but the ball is out for another throw that Rob Herring nails this time.
