    Argentina 3-7 England

Another good break from try scorer Seb Atkinson - he's showing plenty of promise.

  2. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Argentina 3-7 England

The line speed from England has been really noticeable in these early stages, Ben Curry and Sam Underhill seem to be all over every contact and they force another turnover which leads to another lineout in a good area.

  3. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Argentina 3-7 England

George Ford tries another kick to the same corner but it's fielded well by an Argentine shirt this time. They are definitely targeting the England right.

  4. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Argentina 3-7 England

Plenty of props to the England props as they win a penalty from a scrum. George Ford kicks it down inside the 22 and a chance here for the visitors.

Good paralipsis, Ken. Let's not mention Owen Farrell... Now look what you made us do (said in jest)

To ask if the Lions play too many 'warm up' games is to miss the whole point of Lions tours. It's a full-on rugby challenge to the whole of the host nation and is enthusiastically embraced as such. The Tests are the pinnacle of that challenge, but the tour games are central to the whole thing!

    Santiago Carreras

Carreras didn't have the best night with the boot last week but that's a beauty first up, drilled through the posts from slightly to the left.

    Argentina 0-7 England

This is just Seb Atkinson's second cap by the way and that's his first try. The 23-year-old plays for Gloucester.

  8. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Argentina 0-7 England

That was terrific stuff from England, great variety in their play and the steady head of George Ford pulling the strings.

    Seb Atkinson (con Ford)

What a try! And what a great call by Ken Smith pre kick-off!

George Ford puts a beauty of a crossfield kick in which Tom Roebuck climbs to gather superbly, Luke Northmore takes it on and then puts his fellow centre Seb Atkinson in for the score.

Ford adds the rest. Great start.

    Argentina 0-0 England

England's pack is outweighed today but the first scrum is competed well. England fly up with great line speed.

    Argentina 0-0 England

England in their change black and electric blue shirt make a good tackle but Freddie Steward then overhits his kick through and it goes dead. A slight misjudgement from the full-back.

Away we go! Santiago Carreras kicks high into the sunny sky...

  13. Anthem timepublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 12 July

A 9/10 for Argentina's anthem, an absolute belter with tears in the line-up and the stands.

It contains the lyrics: "On the face of the Earth rises a new and glorious Nation, its brow crowned with laurels, and a Lion defeated at its feet."

Ken Smith: Can we please have this as an Owen Farrell free zone?! Lots of great young talent to talk about like Seb Atkinson!

I retract that comment about the size of the crowd, it must have been the initial camera angle. It's actually pretty much full.

George Ford leads out the England side in front of a pretty sparse but enthusiastic crowd. It looks a cracking day, it has to be said. My computer reckons it's 19C in San Juan.

Do the Lions play too many warm up games? Yes if there is no jeopardy because the opposition don’t put their first team out. Maybe there should be an agreement before the tour that the provincial sides put out the best team possible. And not hide their international players.

You're not in San Juan you're in Prestwich

Tonight's game is being played in San Juan, a city with the nickname 'oasis town' which feels a bit on the nose for this weekend...

But that's because of its greenery irrigated by a canal system, and not for the Gallaghers who will be delivering nostaligia in spades at Heaton Park as we speak.
