The win is all that Gloucester will care about considering what they were playing in this evening.
It was dogged and means they continue their momentum from their Premiership win against Northampton last week before travelling out to France to play Vannes in their second pool match next Saturday.
Edinburgh were totally stifled for much of the second half although they snatched a losing bonus point at the end to make sure they didn't leave empty-handed.
Some of their players are still gathered on the pitch minutes after the whistle in a debrief, noticeably debutant Freddy Douglas who is on crutches and wearing a protective boot after going off with that injury early on.

Gloucester director of rugby George Skivington tells Premier Sports: "The conditions were bad. A couple of opportunities didn't go our way, and the boys showed their resilience.
"Edinburgh brought it - that was a gritty game and you had to roll your sleeves up.
"We know how to maul and we haven't stopped training it. Once we saw the conditions, that was the route we had to go down.
"We managed to get field position and score a couple of tries. We could have been more clinical, but we're pleased with how that went."

Player of the match and Gloucester captain Lewis Ludlow tells Premier Sports: "We wanted to put a performance on at home, and although the weather tried its best to stop that, that performance is what we're about as a club - working hard.
"Edinburgh make it really tough but we adapted well. It was hard to score points, but possession and territory helped us get points in the end.
"We love this competition as a club, and we'll be into the fight next week as well."
Gloucester march their way into the Edinburgh 22, but the ball goes to ground in these difficult conditions and somehow the Scottish side survive again.
