    FT: USA 21-61 England

England coach John Mitchell: "We were keen to get started, we probably let ourselves own with the basics early in the game and in the middle but we finished with a lot of satisfaction."

(At half-time what was the message?) "Continue to build, don't let it off through poor basics and take the handbrake off, and attack That is where our mindset should be and we demonstrated that with some good examples towards the end of the performance."

"A bonus-point win and job done but the scoreline flatters England who faced a dogged American side who wouldn’t go away, scoring three tries of their own.

"The positives for the Red Roses include a stand-out performance from Saracens fly-half Zoe Harrison who controlled well in a starting ten shirt and a positive debut for Bristol Bears centre Phoebe Murray.

"But tougher tests are ahead with World Champions New Zealand and hosts Canada coming up in the next fortnight."

England skipper Alex Matthews: "It is an absolute honour but when you are surrounded by the leadership we have in there, it makes it easy. We took our foot of the gas at times, we didn't build the momentum we wanted. But when we are on fire we are scoring tries for fun and that's what the girls are loving."

And that's it, the hooter goes and England have a comprehensive-looking win, although there will be aspects they will want to improve on.

Credit to the USA, who took their chances to give England food for thought.

    Ella Wyrwas (con: Harrison)

And to cap it off, sub Ella Wyrwas races in unopposed just after the restart and she sees Zoe Harrison knock over another conversion for good measure.

  6. try

Try - USA 21-54 Englandpublished at 22:12 British Summer Time

    Ellie Kildunne (con: Harrison)

Ellie Kildunne gets her second of the day, thanks to an off-the-floor pass expertly fed by Jess Breach, giving the full back just enough space to slide in by the flag.

And it's a brilliant conversion from Harrison again.

    Jess Breach (con: Harrison)

Text book, absolutely text book from England.

The ball comes off the top of a lineout, and is spun out to Jess Breach. She loops around to the right wing from the left, then kicks in the afterburners to slice through the defence and in for her first of the match - which is converted, yet again, by Zoe Harrison.

    USA 21-40 England

Bo Westcombe-Evans had raced back into play just as that try move was reaching its conclusion, Jess Breach cleverly filling in on the wing to stretch the USA defence.

  9. try

Try - USA 21-40 Englandpublished at 69 mins

    Morwenna Talling (con: Harrison)

England, down to 14 with Westombe-Evans needing treatment, wore the USA down with moves to the right, then they moved back inside for flanker Talling to crash over for the fifth try, converted with aplomb by Zoe Harrison.

    USA 21-33 England

Ban on cue, England's scrum gets it together and shoves the USA pack on their 22, the American eight disintegrating under pressure.

It usually gets messy when the benches are emptied, and it is England who are struggling more at the moment.

There have been replacements galore, I won't list them but you can see them in the lineups tabs. Needless to say, England can call upon some very experienced subs today.

Converted try - USA 21-33 Englandpublished at 57 mins

    Kate Zackary (con: Hawkins)

The USA skipper peels off the front of the lineout and crashes over with two red shirts on top of her - an excellent training ground move if ever there was one!

Real spirit from the USA - can they narrow the gap?

    USA 14-33 England

McKenzie Hawkins tries a beguiling kick to the corner, Ellie Kildunne just about does enough to deny Cheta Emba a chance of a try.

    USA 14-33 England

USA have been in the England half for much of the time since that last try, Arlev Kelter spilling a pass in a scrappy phase on the left flank.

    Westcombe-Evans

That is a superb debut try for Bo Westcombe-Evans!

The move goes from left to right, and the Loughborough Lightning winger has just enough to elude a tackle, using the greasy surface to slide in over the line.

Zoe Harrison's conversion attempt hits the post - her first miss of the day.

Boof! Sub Joanne Fa'avesi absolutely smashes Ellie Kildunne as she tries to tackle the USA replacement, bumping the full back off on halfway as the USA's encouraging spell continues.

The USA have made a good start, winning a free kick at a scrum and then rumbling towards the line.

Hope Rogers is topped short of the line twice, excellent English defence so far.
