I'm told it was -8° pitchside by the end of that. I can't ever remember colder.

Franco Smith was pretty calm about that ending, but I imagine the players know how he really feels. In fairness, Sione Tuipulotu was a little downbeat despite his gargantuan performance.

All the reaction will be over on the Scottish rugby topic page, so head on over for that.

Right, I'm away for a hot chocolate and a warm bath. Until next time!

Racing 92 head coach Stuart Lancaster tells Premier Sports: "At one stage, I was worried about how the result would play out. We showed tremendous spirit.

"We have a lot of young lads making their Champions Cup debuts and you're playing against a very good team - cohesive, well coached, together a long time.

"There was times we were hanging on but the substitutions made a difference. It's a shame we didn't get the bonus point because that's what we came for.

"I thought it would be a long night but they stuck in there. The young lads fronted up and got stuck in, and the senior pros helped out."

Glasgow fly-half Tom Jordan tells Premier Sports about the Warriors dropping off: "It's a collective thing, it's a tough one. When you get up early in games, it's just having that ruthless mindset and developing that. It's the hardest thing in sport - even the best teams in the world struggle with that.

"For 80 minutes, you have to keep your foot on the throat. That'll take us from good to great. Hopefully we keep building that mindset."

More Franco Smith reaction: "It's Champions Cup, it's quality teams. They brought on a lot of experience and energy from their bench and they did what was asked.

"Our yellow card was unneccesary. We defended well enough to not give that away and that led to a couple of tries that we've leaked. Enough to work on but excited we've made progress.

"We fell two minutes short [against Harlequins last season]. We regroup, have a look on Monday. We've got a plan to go there and see how we can progress from tonight."

Glasgow head coach Franco Smith tells BBC Scotland: "We obviously want to improve, it's early in the year. It's the Christmas period, and sometimes when you're not in the building for a week, some things will give.

"The first hour, I was happy with. The boys stuck to script. There was good positive steps. Some frustration from the Edinburgh loss helped.

"We need to kick on. We need put on an 80-minute performance, like we used to do. It is there, one or two games that will allow us to be ourselves up until the end.

"Sione plays well. The reason he's walking away with the man of the match medal so often is because he plays well. He's in a good space. His contribution is massively appreciated."

  6. Tuipulotu feels Glasgow 'dropped off'published at 21:56 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

FT: Glasgow Warriors 29-19 Racing 92

Player of the match Sione Tuipulotu tells Premier Sports: "I feel good, we played well first half, that's what we aimed for. We dropped off last 20 minutes and that's something we need to fix before we go to Harlequins.

"We need to take the learnings every week. There's parts of today that are us, when we move the ball and run with intend. Parts of the game weren't us, we dropped down in collisions, there were a few missed tackle. It's something we need to fix if we want to compete with the top end of the competition.

"It's a relationship we've built throughout the season. Me and Tom [Jordan] are close off the field and it helps when you're playing with your best mates. It creates that cohesion. Tom was exceptional again tonight and we'll need him in the bigger games.

"If we beat [Harlequins] next week, we can play a round of 16 here [at Scotstoun] for the first time and that motivates us. I want to play in front of my son and fiance."

The challenge is to maintain the level of performance for a full 80 minutes.

Perhaps that will narrow their focus. They've got maximum points, played good rugby, but how do they take it to next level?

  8. Full-time Glasgow Warriors 29-19 Racing 92published at 21:48 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

Well that was all a bit messy at the end.

After a brilliant first 40 minutes, they got a bit scrappy in the second half and allowed Racing just a glimmer of hope.

However, the Parisians were lacking accuracy almost all night and just when they'd given themselves a chance of two bonus points, they coughed up the ball.

Glasgow should have wrapped that up far more convincingly, but they'll take the five points. They're through to the next round - now to secure a home game.

Racing are creeping up the pitch and have made it all the way into Glasgow's 22m. This will be a tense ending - not in terms of the winner, but whether the Warriors can shut them out and stop them getting two bonus points.

They're almost at the 5m line... but it goes forward!

Sione Tuipulotu is named player of the match by the television broadcasters.

As John Barclay says in commentary, he is at the heart of everything good about Glasgow. His importance for Warriors and Scotland cannot be overstated.

Where has this Racing side been all game? They've only turned up in the last seven minutes and - while they won't turn this game on its head - they're making it a real scrap.

It's a case of too little, too late though.

  12. try

    Tristan Tedder

Racing race away through Henry Arundell. He could pass inside but he kicks over the full-back. The bounce is awkward but Racing regather.

They're able to spread wide and Tedder goes over in the far corner.

Another try for Racing would get them two bonus points.

It's just a case of switching off. They've become passive in the last 15 or so minutes.

    It's become all Racing, really.

    Lee-Marvin Mazibuko

    That'll frustrate Franco Smith.

Glasgow's defence tires for the first time in the match, and they give away two penalties that allows Racing a chance from five metres out.

From a crash ball, Mazibuko picks and goes and finds a gap at the edge of the ruck.

Two tries in the next seven minutes? It could be a vital losing bonus point for them.

Alex Samuel is on for Scott Cummings, while Duncan Weir is on for Kyle Steyn.

However, Glasgow are down to 14 men as Matt Fagerson is caught slapping the ball out of the hands of Kleo Labarbe at the back of a ruck.

You can't do that, Matt. Off you go for 10 minutes - and possibly the rest of the game.

Racing are over the line, but held up!

It all came from Clovis Le Bail dodging a tackle and feeding to Dan Lancaster. It was eventually stabbed down into the corner and Tristan Tedder was able to gather, but the Glasgow defence held him up and dragged him out of play.

    Oh now there's a bit of a dust-up!

Rory Darge is absolutely clattered late in a ruck after the whistle is gone. It's Diego Escobar - the Chilean hooker who made no friends during the recent games between the Scotland and his nation.

They are going to have a look at that... but there's no punishment.

    Rory Darge

Glasgow put the game to bed just before the hour mark with their first score of the second half!

As soon as Scott Cummings' feet had touched the floor after collecting the line out, Glasgow were off and marching towards the line.

With no Johnny Matthews to gather, it was Darge who plunged over the whitewash.

And Tom Jordan nails the kick.

Huw Jones is making this Racing defence look like a block of Swiss cheese - he's finding holes everywhere. His latest burst sees him stopped on the 22m line, though.

Meanwhile, the front row are replaced - along with Jack Mann, who gets a big cheer as he comes off.

Jamie Bhatti is on to become the most capped loosehead in Glasgow history. Gregor Hiddleston, Sam Talakai and Euan Ferrie are on, with the latter making a first appearance since October.

Glasgow are almost through again. First it's Huw Jones who spurts through a gap, and then finds Kyle Steyn with a catflap offload.

From the next phase, Steyn gets through and he's almost at the line before being turned around. He tries to find a pass but loses the ball.
