You want to have different ways of being able to play. They've shown their forward powerhouses and they're utilising their backs really nicely in this game.

You're playing an international team at the end of the day - even if they're not at the same level as England are, you still have to respect the way Italy are defending and performing.

Yes, they will look at this and think of the times they didn't have to get done for holding on or a couple of dropped balls here and there, but they're doing a great job.

Italy need to stay patient here. I can't see why they would go wide when they were a player down.

It's the first opportunity for Italy to be in England's 22, but they can build on this and work through the phases. It is sometimes good to just get points on the board.

Really lovely. England backs are talking about identifying that space and kicking into it and it works. It was executed really well, they could go through the hands but they have the space.

That was a beautifully weighted kick and really nice from Claudia MacDonald.

A nice step back inside as well because if she'd carried on the trajectory, she might have been tackled. A great finish after everything she's been through.

Holly Aitchison kicks wide and lands the ball on a sixpence for Claudia MacDonald to catch and score.

The conversion is missed but England have the bonus inside half an hour.

  9. England have the wind on their sidepublished at 15:35 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    England 21-0 Italy

Former England captain on BBC Two

England have had three quarters of the territory and it is really hard for Italy. I think the only thing to argue is that the wind is in England's favour at the moment.

England need to hold more depth in their play because Italy are playing very narrow.

Emily Scarratt tries to clip the ball wide for Mia Venner, but the ball just evades the winger and trickles into touch.

    England are utterly dominant here.

To make matters worse for Italy, Laura Gurioli is sent to the sin-bin for her role in illegally disrupting England's rolling maul.

The Azzurri are down to 14 players temporarily.

Penalty Try - England 21-0 Italypublished at 21 mins

    England have their third try.

Rosie Galligan is initially awarded the try before being adjudged to have lost control of the ball at the back of the rolling maul.

However, Italy are penalised for disrupting the maul illegally and England are therefore awarded a penalty try.

It means Emma Sing doesn't have to take the conversion and England take all seven points.

I am liking the fact I am seeing no penalty for a team that is being pushed back but making no mistake. You see this far too much.

A Mexican wave has just done two loops around the entire stadium. I think there is a group of people dressed as Minions at the far side, who could well have started it.

Sums up the fun atmosphere in York.

Maddie Feaunati has been a powerhouse so far and Italy have struggled to push her backwards.

The number eight spills the forward in her latest surge forward, though, and Italy will have the scrum.

  19. Postpublished at 16 mins

Solid Italian defence force England to hold on at the breakdown. That will be a penalty for the Azzurri and a welcome breather.

  20. Playing multiple positions that use different muscles is difficultpublished at 15:18 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    England 14-0 Italy

    Brian Moore
Former England hooker on BBC Two

It is very difficult to play multiple positions in the scrum because you use a complete different set of muscles. They will have a bit of an idea if they have played in any of the three, but it is difficult.
