    The Scotland flanker is getting some strapping on the injured knee but seems ready to continue.

    Well it's not a classic but Edinburgh have got their noses in front at the break.

    What they have done is defend very well and if they can add a bit more in attack in this second half then they can overcome an Ospreys side that do look to be lacking in confidence as they sit bottom of the URC.

    Edinburgh can't make anything of their field position and a game of kick-tennis breaks out for a few minutes with Harry Paterson eventually leathering it out of play.

    The commentary team on URC say it looks like two nervous teams out there and it's hard to disagree.

    Ross Thompson looks to bring Duhan Van Der Merwe into the game off first-phase ball from a line-out but this time the Opsreys defence are waiting to double-team him and march the big winger back.

    There was a penalty advantage though and Thompson kicks deep into Ospreys territory again.

    Dewi Lake spins a peach of a pass out to Keelan Giles who crashes into contact and recycles.

    Ospreys go from side to side but their attack is so deep and they can't find any holes.

    Edinburgh are filling the field well in defence and eventually force the turnover.

    Edinburgh have a scrum just inside the Ospreys half, a decent platform from which to attack, but they are pinged by the referee and Ospreys can kick back downfield.

    Ben Vellacott taps quickly and dives under the sticks. The TMO checks to see if the scrum-half grounded properly but the officials are happy and the try stands.

    Edinburgh lead by three.

    "The teams are feeling each other out, a lot of box-kicking, but the fans will hope they start throwing the ball around a little bit.

    "Ospreys will be happy to win ugly, but on a day like today you want to see both teams trying to run the ball.

    "It's been a very cagey opening 20 minutes."

    Just a wee bit scrappy this last five minutes or so.

    Ospreys are box-kicking everything at the moment and Edinburgh are not really penetrating the Welsh defence when they have hands on ball.

    They do have a penalty though and Ross Thompson is going to have a pop at goal....

    Duhan van der Merwe gets his hands on ball for the first time and powers through a couple of tackles to get Edinburgh on the front foot.

    Ross Thompson elects to dink a kick over the top which just eludes the hands of Matt Scott.

    Edinburgh will want to see more of that from Van der Merwe.

    Ospreys strike first and it's Dewi Lake.

    The home side have really taken the initiative and their decision to pass up three easy points is vindicated.

    Lake throws into the line-out then takes up position at the back of the maul which rumbles over the line and Lake touches down.

    Great start for the hosts.
