Converted Try - Ulster 24-17 Exeterpublished at 21:08 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January

    Rob Herring (con Doak)

BONUS-POINT FOR ULSTER! THEIR EUROPEAN DREAMS HAVE TAKEN A MASSIVE BOOST!

It all came from the maul, with Michael Lowry giving in the last shove over the line and Rob Herring dropped down for the crucial score.

Nathan Doak converts. How big will that be?

Ulster win the penalty from the scrum and, needing the bonus-point, Jack Murphy sends it into the corner.

    Ulster 17-17 Exeter

Ulster get the ball off the back of the Exeter scrum but it's knocked forward by Cormac Izuchukwu.

    This has been very stop-start.

Doak, TImoney and Lowry look to go down the short side, but there's crossed wires and Timoney throws the ball into touch as Lowry skipped inside the forward.

There's a stoppage as James McNabney receives some treatment. He was holding his arm but is going to continue.

    Ulster 17-17 Exeter

Exeter look to get things moving in attack yet again but it's dropped forward.

Nathan Doak smashes it into the 22, and Ben Hammersly does well to recover after slipping on the plastic turf.

Ulster have it again, but are just inside the Exeter half.

Off go Exeter through skipper Jack Innard, who is quickly swallowed up by White jerseys.

Exeter kick from the next phase, which allowed Nathan Doak to send the ball into touch.

We've seen a shot on Werner Kok, sporting a black eye, on the bench after he was forced off in the opening stages. Good to see he's okay.

The players are back on the pitch.

This is a huge 40 minutes that will define the seasons of both these clubs.

    Tommy Seymour
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio Ulster

It's massive. I did Exeter a disservice at the start of the programme by saying it was in Ulster's control to win or lose his game. There's a real danger that if Exeter consolidate their defence they could cause Ulster problems. It could go either way.

Remember we said earlier that scrum-half Niall Armstrong had won a couple of Schools' Cups at Kingspan Stadium with Inst? Here's the proof.

Now, he's back in Belfast with Exeter. How time flies.

Having just seeing Ross Vintcent's try again, it would be good to see him and Nick Timoney have a 100m race.

Who's your money on there? Both are big men but rapid.

In the break from the chaos, let's take a reminder of the permutations.

As things stand, a draw would be enough for Ulster to progress to the Challenge Cup - but it is finely in the balance.

Both sides are unlikely to qualify for the Champions Cup last-16, but need another try for the bonus point, along with victory, to give themselves any hope.

  14. 'Very exciting'published at 20:45 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January

    Tony McWhirter
1999 Ulster European Cup winner on BBC Sounds

It's been very exciting. Two teams without pressure on their shoulders. Exeter started like a house on fire but Ulster eventually got themselves into gear. Ulster certainly finished the half the stronger side.

As you would expect from teams who are bottom of the Pool and conceded 130 and 170 points each in Europe, this has been as open, error-strewn and entertaining as we had hoped!

  16. Postpublished at 20:43 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January

    Ulster 17-17 Exeter

This has been chaos at times! Seconds after Nathan Doak slices a crossfield kick, Michael Lowry charges down a kick and looks to scoop the ball up, but he spills it forward.

Doak is first to it and touches down over the line, but play is brought back for the knock on.

At times, this game has been brilliant to watch and awful in quality in equal measure.

  17. try

Try - Ulster 17-17 Exeterpublished at 20:41 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January

    Nick TImoney

    Quick Nick strikes for Ulster!

The big back row picks the ball up just inside the Exeter half and nobody in pink can bring him down. He barges through three tackles and slides over the line.

Nobody was going to stop him there, and we're level once again!

Nathan Doak sends the conversion wide and lets out a huge groan of frustration.

  18. Postpublished at 20:39 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January

    Ulster 12-17 Exeter

The ball is knocked on in contact by Izuchukwu in the 22, and Ben Hammersley hammers the ball clear.

That's a great kick and rolls into touch.

  19. Postpublished at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January

    Ulster 12-17 Exeter

Ulster win it and the maul makes some decent ground.

Nathan Doak sends it high and Michael Lowry is there! Another kick goes forward and Exeter manage to get there, but the man in pink are all over the show here!

  20. Postpublished at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January

    Ulster 12-17 Exeter

Extere are nearly in again from their own half but Nathan Doak does really well to scramble back to pull down Will Haydon-Brown.

Will Rigg sticks a superb kick into the 22 after Exeter moved the ball quickly.

Pressure on the Ulster throw, here.
