  1. Pollock celebratespublished at 15:24 British Summer Time

We have some training ground reaction to the team announcement. Of course, it's Henry Pollock's reaction.

Northampton Saints have posted a brilliant video on X, external of their squad reacting to 20-year-old Pollock being called up to the British and Irish Lions' squad.

He was quickly followed by England trio Tommy Freeman, Alex Mitchell and Fin Smith.

  7. 'My job to play devil's advocate'published at 15:12 British Summer Time

British and Irish Lions head coach Andy Farrell, speaking about selecting his team: "It was very difficult.

"Going from 75 players and getting it down to 55 - that's tough enough. It says everything about the process.

"Getting it down to the final 38 - it is my job to play devil's advocate.

"The chats I have had, the honest chats I have had with all the coaches about the players that we have talked about have been fantastic.

"From 55 to the 38 [players] is extremely difficult."

Hansen is a big call, I probably would've taken Darcy Graham.

Henry Pollock’s inclusion is the headline in an otherwise fairly safe selection, with England and Ireland providing the bulk of players as expected.

Blair Kinghorn is the only France-based player, with Andy Farrell resisting the temptation to pick son Owen or Toulouse's in-form flanker Jack Willis. Marcus Smith goes as one of three fly-halves, with Finn Russell and Fin Smith in and Sam Prendergast out.

As ever, versatility will be a massive asset on tour, something that will have helped the likes of Marcus Smith, Ben Earl and Elliot Daly.

Commiserations to Doris who undoubtedly would have been on the plane, but is presumably injured. Great for Pollock - looking forward to seeing him immensely. A few surprises in there, but all understandable. I would have had Darcy Graham and Blair Murray in there personally for Hansen and Daly, but they're all close calls.

Surprised to see Cowan-Dickie ahead of George and I would take Ford over Marcus Smith every day of the week, but either way it looks a great squad.

  12. 'The top of the mountain'published at 15:03 British Summer Time

British and Irish Lions player Tomos Williams: "I have got to admit I did shed a tear.

"The last two days I've been an emotional wreck. Grateful for my parents, my partner Laura and everyone who has helped me.

"The top of the mountain. You cannot get much higher than this achievement.

"I'll get a bit of stick for this, no doubt."

British and Irish Lions player Mack Hansen: "I was just heading for swim!

British and Irish Lions head coach Andy Farrell: "It is the balance.

"As we know it is one hell of a schedule. 10 games in six weeks will test everyone."
