Brazil have defended so bravely and should be proud of their World Cup debut.

Tough was a phrase used in the build-up and they have showed that in abundance, especially with their cover defence.

Many would have predicted at least half a century of points by this stage.

This is only Brazil's 17th Test in XVs.

  7. South Africa dominate early on but Brazil show fighting spiritpublished at 18 mins

    South Africa 12-3 Brazil

So far it's been a fast-paced game with South Africa dominating but Brazil piling into the tackles to limit the damage to two tries.

South Africa's first try was scored within three minutes from the first whistle by Nadine Roos. She was described as a 'rocket' when she ran the ball under the post and Byrhandre Dolf kicked the conversion.

At seven minutes, the strong and powerful Aseza Hele secured the second try South Africa wanted.

But Brazil decided it was time to post some points on the board and an assured penalty from fly-half Raquel Kochhann earned the debutants their first ever World Cup points.

South Africa have also had two disallowed tries.

Rugby still remains an unknown sport among the majority of the people from the South American country, even with Brazil making their debut at the Women's Rugby World Cup against South Africa today.

Brazil, who are the lowest-ranked team at the World Cup in 25th, have only played 16 Tests of XV-a-side rugby and celebrated their first win in 2023 over Portugal.

To qualify for the World Cup, Brazil had to defeat Colombia in the South American play-off - a hurdle they had failed at six times previously.
