Jersey shooter David Ward wins second gold at Games

Jersey shooter David Ward has won a second gold medal at the Island Games.

AFter winning Centre Fire Team gold with Derek Bernard on Tuesday, Ward took the top prize again in the 25 metre Standard Pistol competition.

Ward finished level on points with Jonathon David Patron and Peter Nordgren (547), taking gold on account of more hits to the target's centre.

Jersey's Mary Norman and Sarah Pallot also won silver in the 100 yard prone rifle event.

Ward's gold moves Jersey's medal tally in the shooting events up to 13, with three gold, eight silver and two bronze.

The island's first shooting gold medal, external was won by the women's team of Nikki Holmes and Mary Norman in the 10m air pistol on Sunday.
