Steve Davis's bid to qualify for the World Snooker Championship has failed after the six-time world champion lost 10-1 to Kurt Maflin.

The 57-year-old trailed 8-1 after a one-sided morning session in Monday's second qualifying round and could not fight back at Ponds Forge.

Jimmy White, who lost six World finals, also failed to qualify, losing 10-8 to Matthew Selt, despite being 7-2 up.

Former world champion Ken Doherty did make progress, beating Lee Walker 10-6.

The Irishman will next play Mark Davies, who beat Oliver Lines 10-7.
