O'Sullivan 4-2 Si
Si Jiahui with a break of 60 before he misses a simple pink into the top corner pocket. However, Ronnie O'Sullivan happy to concede the frame. O'Sullivan nips out for a quick comfort break, running his fingers along the cushion on the table as he strides off.

A lot has been said about Ronnie and his new cue - that he's struggling over distance and has a bit of anxiety - but when nobody can lay a glove on you it does put you at ease. Si Jiahui was in the balls in that last frame but missed key shots. You can't do many of those and live to tell the tale.
O'Sullivan 4-1 Si
A bit of an attritional sixth frame with the blue, black and pink all in the top half of the table and the reds sprinkled at the other end. Si Jiahui has a break of 42 out of 51 but still plenty of work to do to close out this frame for the player from China.

Absolutely wonderful. Another century and that record of Neil Robertson is not just in danger, it's quvering.
Trump 4-1 Brecel
Two tons in a row for the 2019 world champion Judd Trump.
A 110 run follows his 106 in the previous frame to go 4-1 up on Luca Brecel.
Trump is now on 102 centuries for the season, one behind Neil Robertson's record.
O'Sullivan 4-1 Si

That was a wonderful break from Ronnie O'Sullivan. He has come out and looked much more focused after the mid-session interval.
O'Sullivan 4-1 Si
Ronnie O'Sullivan misses the final red, and the opportunity of a century break, but has enough to take the frame with a break of 87. He has a three-frame cushion now and is firmly in control of this one.
O'Sullivan 3-1 Si

One of the advantages a top player like Ronnie O'Sullivan has is their reputation can put their opponent in the background. I don't think all the players who play against Ronnie do so their full potential. But every now and then someone raises their game and beats Ronnie with an exceptional performance.
O'Sullivan 3-1 Si
Ronnie O'Sullivan is still not quite at his fluent best but there are flickers of magic now. He's starting to build up a head of steam in the fifth frame having potted all but one of the reds as he eyes his seventh century break of the tournament.

If Ronnie O'Sullivan is the GOAT, why is he not number one? And players like Cliff Thorburn and Alex Higgins would all give him a run for his money. O'Sullivan uses the hype from commentators and media to intimidate his opponent.

Okay, Ronnie O'Sullivan and Si Jiahui are back out at the Crucible for the fifth frame following the mid-session interval. O'Sullivan to break.
Trump 3-1 Brecel
An eighth century of the tournament for Judd Trump - who leads the ton standings - and his 101st of the season.
That 106 break leaves him just two short of Neil Robertson's record of 103 centuries in one season,
And Trump is leading on all the metrics so far in this match as he goes into the mid-session interval 3-1 up.

You can win the World Championship in different ways. You can play your brains out and absolutely fly, or you can win it when everyone underperforms against you.
There's a lot of luck attached to the second of those but the stars can align that every player you play against has a bad day. That's sort of what has happened with Ronnie O'Sullivan so far in this year's tournament.

I'm sorry but apart from the century break in the second frame Si Jiahui has shown nothing to me to suggest he is going to compete in this match.
O'Sullivan 3-1 Si
Ronnie O'Sullivan puffs out his cheeks then takes his seat. A break of 54 out of 62 gives him a strong position in the fourth frame but he fluffs a simple red to allow his opponent a chance.
However, Si Jiahui concedes the frame after failing to sink the pink into the middle pocket.
The players head off for the mid-session interval.

That' was possibly one of the worst shots Judd Trump has played this season, but it was a wonderful steal.
Trump 2-1 Brecel
What a curious frame. Two of the game's most free-flowing players, but a succession of missed opportunities.
Judd Trump inexplicably leaves the green onto the middle to potentially lose the frame as they fight it out on the colours.
Luca Brecel duly pots the green, but Trump forces a couple of fouls and snatches a frame the Belgian really should have won,

It looked like Si Jiahui had done all the hard work by opening the pack up but couldn't get the next one down which often happens after you play a great shot.
