He's the new world snooker champion affter an 18-14 win over Jak Jones.

He's had heartache in finals before so what an unbelievable achievement to go and win the World Championship. Lovely scenes.

What lovely memories for his two young boys, being on the snooker table with their dad after he wins the World Snooker Championship.

Jak Jones comes out of this with enormous credit too - to run Kyren so close from 7-0 down was a magnificent achievement.

He'll be a wonderful ambassador for the game. He's a great guy and you can see how much it meant to him.

He's been totally professional all his career and he was the best player here this week, he was the most solid, consistent and powerful.

OK, he struggled a bit to get over the line but in the end he potted some great balls to win it in style.

"I'm trying so hard to inspire a younger generation and hopefully I'm inspiring my kids.

"They did an interview this week where they were asked their sporting idol and they said Ronaldo, so hopefully I've overtaken him now!

"I just wanted to say thank you to each and every one of you for making this so special. I was robbed of this in the Covid final [in 2020] - I will never forget this moment so thank you all."

"He was so tough and I don't know if there's many people left in Wales the amount that were cheering for him!

"They made it a fantastic atmosphere.

"Me and Jak have come through the junior ranks together. This is Jak's first final, let alone a World final, and he's conducted himself in an amazing fashion and I'm sure he'll be back."

"Can you imagine how embarrasing it would have bene if I'd lost and Bailey is dressed like that?" he says pointing to his son, decked out in proper waistcoat and bow tie snooker attire.

"I'd like to say sorry to Jak for that outburst [shouting 'come on' on match ball] but it does just mean so much to all of us.

"My mum and dad have remortgaged and sacrificed their whole lives to get me here. My brother and wife too. The list goes on and on, it's a massive team effort.

"On YouTube one of my worst things to see is me crying with Jason Mohammed at the Masters and this is going to be even worse! I said I'd never do it again but I just couldn't help it"

More from beaten finalist Jak Jones: "It's been an unbelievable tournament for me. About a month ago I was twitching in my first qualifying match. It's been a long month but I'm happy with it."

On being 7-0 down: "I wouldn't say I had a lot of hope. I thought I'd just try my best. When you are playing someone as solid as Kyren who has such a good all-round game, it's going to be hard to come back from a deficit like that."

Jones said his nervous mum had come to watch him play for the first time.

Kyren Wilson is overcome with emotion as his brother comes out to give him a big hug.

And Kyren's two young sons aren't far behind. Even bigger hug for them.

"GET IN THERE," one of them screams.

And one of the boys even goes over to shake Jak Jones' hand! How nice was that!

"I can't see!" says Wilson, with tears in his eyes!

It doesn't matter! He plays safe on the last red and Jak Jones comes forward to shake hands.

What a final! Fantastic entertainment provided by both players.

You wouldn't say he's got the cue ball on a string but he keeps potting them and that's all that matters.

There's the first, brown to baulk pocket.

Four reds remain, he only needs two. And there's one, with the rest.

Kyren Wilson keeps his cool to pot a very missable red to middle.

He's about five shots from being World champion.

But nothing is coming easy.

A tricky pink to middle to keep the break going...

It's there - but no simple red next! 42 points ahead though. Big cushion.

Yep, and a plant on two reds from Wilson frees the rest of them.
