    He's had heartache in finals before so what an unbelievable achievement to go and win the World Championship. Lovely scenes.

    What lovely memories for his two young boys, being on the snooker table with their dad after he wins the World Snooker Championship.

    Jak Jones comes out of this with enormous credit too - to run Kyren so close from 7-0 down was a magnificent achievement.

    He'll be a wonderful ambassador for the game. He's a great guy and you can see how much it meant to him.

    He's been totally professional all his career and he was the best player here this week, he was the most solid, consistent and powerful.

    OK, he struggled a bit to get over the line but in the end he potted some great balls to win it in style.

    "They did an interview this week where they were asked their sporting idol and they said Ronaldo, so hopefully I've overtaken him now!

    "I just wanted to say thank you to each and every one of you for making this so special. I was robbed of this in the Covid final [in 2020] - I will never forget this moment so thank you all."

    "I'd like to say sorry to Jak for that outburst [shouting 'come on' on match ball] but it does just mean so much to all of us.

    "My mum and dad have remortgaged and sacrificed their whole lives to get me here. My brother and wife too. The list goes on and on, it's a massive team effort.

    "On YouTube one of my worst things to see is me crying with Jason Mohammed at the Masters and this is going to be even worse! I said I'd never do it again but I just couldn't help it"

    On being 7-0 down: "I wouldn't say I had a lot of hope. I thought I'd just try my best. When you are playing someone as solid as Kyren who has such a good all-round game, it's going to be hard to come back from a deficit like that."

    Jones said his nervous mum had come to watch him play for the first time.
