More from Ben Woollaston: "I honestly didn't feel many nerves maybe until I got to eight frames, and then the nerves kick in - now all of a sudden I can win the match. Until you're out there, you don't realise how hard a ball looks, even if it's over the pocket.

"Even in that last frame, I was 25 in front on the blue and [against] anyone else I would think I was over the line. I was glad he shook my hand."

Asked what he will do with his day off before his second-round match: "Sleep!"

  4. Woollaston 'in shock' after beating Selbypublished at 00:16 British Summer Time 25 April

    Result: Selby 8-10 Woollaston

Ben Woollaston, speaking to BBC Four after his win over Mark Selby: "I'm in shock really. I never thought this day would come, winning a match at the Crucible, and against Mark, who except for Ronnie O'Sullivan is probably the king of the Crucible in recent times. It's an amazing win for me.

"Mark started with a century in the first frame and I thought 'here we go'. I just didn't want to be miles behind going into the second day.

"I was surprised that he broke down [when on a break] quite a few times. Even though he didn't play at his best, I was just a little bit more positive maybe and went for a few more shots, because I sensed that he wasn't at his best."

  5. 'Tough from start to finish - I didn't expect to play like that'published at 00:15 British Summer Time 25 April

    Result: Selby 8-10 Woollaston

We'll hear from our winner shortly - meanwhile, here's Mark Selby speaking to BBC Four after his defeat:

"It was tough from start to finish, I didn't play anywhere near where I can play and didn't deserve to win. I played poorly from start to finish. Ben played well, he played some good match snooker and his safety was second to none.

"I felt like I threw so many frames away, I kept getting 30 in front and running out of position or missing a silly shot, and then Ben would come back and win the frame. I probably threw five or six frames away and it's disappointing because I came here with a bit of confidence and I didn't expect to play like that."

  6. 'You couldn't make it up'published at 00:12 British Summer Time 25 April

Would you believe it? Deja vu! Last year Mark Selby lost to Joe O'Connor, a fellow snooker player from Leicester.

Deja vu, Ben Woollaston from Leicester beats the Jester from Leicester. You couldn't make it up. He beats his boyhood hero, Mark Selby.

    Breaking

    Result: Selby 8-10 Woollaston

At eight minutes past midnight, Ben Woollaston is into the second round of the World Championship - knocking out his good friend, the four-time champion Mark Selby.

A big, big shock. Selby was one of the favourites at the start of the competition.

    Our last-16 line-up is complete.

Yellow and green disappear but the brown down the rail stays up.

Mark Selby needs two snookers to stay alive in this year's World Championship.

  9. Bonus entertainment for somepublished at 00:07 British Summer Time 25 April

    Michael Emons
BBC Sport at the Crucible Theatre

Welcome to day seven of the World Snooker Championship, sort of.

All credit to the fans, we've still got loads of people in even as the clock ticks past midnight. Table two had been hosting John Higgins and Xiao Guodong, which had ended at 4-4 a long time ago.

But the dividing wall that separates table one and table two has been lifted out of place, with table two just in darkness.

Plenty of supporters that had table two tickets have stayed for the bonus entertainment though.

  10. 'He's got it wrong'published at 00:06 British Summer Time 25 April

    Selby 8-9 Woollaston

    John Virgo
1979 UK Championship winner on BBC Four

That's amazing. He's one of the best escapers from a snooker that I've ever seen in my life, Mark Selby, and he's got it wrong and left a free ball.

A chance to clinch frame and match at this visit.

Another chance for Ben Woollaston as Mark Selby fouls and leaves a free ball.

Woollaston knocks in a green as the extra red, then the green again.

Just yellow needed to leave Mark Selby needing a snooker...

    Happy Friday, everyone!

An attacking safety from Ben Woollaston opens the reds right up. Something had to give.

Mark Selby is wide with an attempt at a pot and Woollaston will get another chance to win the match, as the clock ticks closer to midnight in Sheffield.

It's been tough. This match started yesterday, it's been played today and might finish tomorrow.

  16. Late-night dramapublished at 23:55 British Summer Time 24 April

    Selby 8-9 Woollaston

    Michael Emons
BBC Sport at the Crucible Theatre

We're on day six of the World Snooker Championship and this is the latest finish to a day's play in the tournament.

The previous latest? That was yesterday's first session of this very match, which finished at a relatively early 11.35pm.

Those in the arena may have been wishing they'd brought a sleeping bag. It's still a busy media centre backstage. Newspaper deadlines have long gone for some.

We could still be on for one of the biggest shocks of the tournament so far, though - one to rival Kyren Wilson's exit on the opening day at the very least.

  17. 'Fatigue might be setting in'published at 23:54 British Summer Time 24 April

    Selby 8-9 Woollaston

    John Virgo
1979 UK Championship winner on BBC Four

The worst possible result. A little bit of fatigue might be setting in now. It's coming up to 10 to midnight, they started the session at seven o'clock. Those hours of concentration can just catch up with you.

  18. Postpublished at 23:53 British Summer Time 24 April

    Selby 8-9 Woollaston

As if to sum up how this frame is going... Ben Woollaston sends a red around the angles and it hits the pink, which drops in.

You think that getting the pink closer to the cluster of reds might help the frame progress a little bit - then you see the pink is now tied up with the only loose red on the table and not available in any pocket.

Mark Selby has a 24-point lead with six reds remaining.

  19. Postpublished at 23:46 British Summer Time 24 April

    Selby 8-9 Woollaston

We're about 20 minutes into this frame and I can tell you that it won't be done quickly, with the way the balls are situated.

The reds are in a cluster near the top cushion except two, blue and black are safe on the side cushion and the pink is up in the baulk end.

If you potted a red from here, you'd struggle to make a 10 break.

  20. Postpublished at 23:41 British Summer Time 24 April

    Selby 8-9 Woollaston

Mark Selby picks off the loose reds to get 17 points in front but then has to play safe.
