  1. Ford 'back down the snake again'published at 15:23 British Summer Time 26 April

    Trump 8-3 Ford

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

Trump is playing with great authority.

He's very clinical but also has such a range of shots available to him.

Tom needed to keep the momentum going after the excellent frame the frame before - he didn't do that so it's back down the snake again, so to speak.

  2. Trump back five in frontpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 26 April

    Trump 8-3 Ford

Judd Trump is in punishing mood, firing in a superb 67, developing a number of awkwardly-placed reds as he goes, to restore his five-frame lead.

  3. Maguire levelspublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 26 April

    Murphy 1-1 Maguire

Very scrappy second frame in which both players have missed numerous chances.

Shaun Murphy has missed a pot with the rest for the first time this tournament! Not good timing for the 'Magician' to end that particular perfect run.

Stephen Maguire takes full advantage, potting the final two reds with colours, plus yellow, green and brown to level.

  4. Postpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 26 April

    Trump 7-3 Ford

Tom Ford fashions himself a chance to get another frame back on Judd Trump.

But he finishes a bit low on the black and the cut-back effort wobbles in the jaw and stays out.

The break ends on 29 and Trump has an easy first red with the black waiting over the pocket.

  5. Postpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 26 April

    Murphy 1-0 Maguire

Stephen Maguire has built a healthy 30-odd point lead on Table 1 but there are still plenty of reds on - and Shaun Murphy strokes a long one in before playing safe.

  6. Ford pulls one backpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 26 April

    Trump 7-3 Ford

Tom Ford is on the board for the afternoon.

He missed a pretty easy red to seal the frame but Judd Trump presented him another chance and no mistake this time. That 73 break earlier did the damage.

  7. Postpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 26 April

    Trump 7-2 Ford

No maximum from Tom Ford as his break ends on 73 with a missed black.

The frame is not totally safe yet either - Judd Trump only needs one snooker and he's giving it a good go, quickly knocking in 31 points in reply before leaving the last red on the table in his quest to get said snooker.

  8. Postpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 26 April

    Trump 7-2 Ford

Six reds and six blacks, so far from Tom Ford. Just saying.

  9. Postpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 26 April

    Trump 7-2 Ford

Well, Leicester's Tom Ford look a little break after that opening frame of this afternoon session.

Maybe to find some more chalk after initially forgetting his at the start of the match - or maybe to just say a few words to himself in the mirror.

Either way, Judd Trump has gifted him a great chance to reduce his arrears - making a right mess of a safety by hitting the wrong red. And boy have the reds split open.

  10. 'Sometimes you can't see a way back'published at 14:55 British Summer Time 26 April

    Trump 7-2 Ford

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

Once you let a player of Judd's standard get away from you, from Tom Ford's perspective, sometimes you can't see a way back into the game.

You are sitting there mesmerised by what's happening and before you know it, you are starting to worry if you will make the end of the session.

  11. 'Ford facing the spectre nobody wants'published at 14:52 British Summer Time 26 April

    Trump 7-2 Ford

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

I know it's very early days - but if Judd wins the next couple of frames, you've got the spectre that nobody wants, of losing this match a session early.

If Tom doesn't try to impose himself on this second session, it's definitely possible.

  12. 100 runs

Trump starts with a tonpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 26 April

    Trump 7-2 Ford

Some exhibition shots from Judd Trump after the frame was secured, including a delicious double on a red.

He can't quite clear up, despite an attempted banana positional shot to try to get on the yellow - but it's still a break of 107, which is, amazingly, Trump's first century of this year's tournament.

  13. Murphy takes openerpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 26 April

    Murphy 1-0 Maguire

After errors and surprising misses from both players, it's Shaun Murphy who locates a bit of composure to roll in a break of 56 and take the opening frame against Stephen Maguire.

  14. Postpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 26 April

    Trump 6-2 Ford

Meanwhile, it's classic Judd Trump on Table 2.

Phenomenal long red to give himself an opening and the break is past 50 already.

  15. Postpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 26 April

    Murphy 0-0 Maguire

First chance of the match goes to Stephen Maguire on Table 1 as he pumps in a long red. But his break ends on 21, handing Shaun Murphy a big opportunity to counter.

But, nope, 'the Magician' misses a routine red - then so does Maguire in reply.

Slightly nervy start from both veterans.

  16. 'Milkman' loses his coolpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 26 April

    Milkins 4-12 Gilbert

Robert Milkins, nicknamed 'The Milkman', threw his cue to the ground in disgust after missing a red during his World Snooker Championship second-round match against David Gilbert earlier today.

Will we see any more tantrums from the players involved this afternoon?

  17. Ford forgets his chalkpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 26 April

    Trump 6-2 Ford

Funny moment at the start here as Tom Ford realises he's forgotten his chalk!

Someone brings it to him from the back. Quite ironic given the 'Chalkgate' saga between the two players on the other table this afternoon (see 14:24 entry).

  18. Watch the action on the BBCpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 26 April

    BBC Two

The second session of Judd Trump's last-16 tie with Tom Ford is the match Hazel Irvine and the crew are focusing on in BBC Two's coverage.

If you want to check out the first session of Stephen Maguire's 'needle' match with Shaun Murphy, that's on the iPlayer and Red Button.

And of course both games can be viewed right here online - lick the 'Watch & Listen' option at the top of the page.

  19. Maguire back at top tablepublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 26 April

    Maguire v Murphy (14:30 BST)

Stephen Maguire is a former UK Championship winner who reached a career-high ranking of second in the world - but he's never reached those heights at the Crucible.

Two semi-final appearances - in 2007 and 2012 - seem a paltry return for a player of such talent.

He's slipped down the rankings in recent years, having not reached a ranking-event semi-final since the 2021 Welsh Open.

But Maguire showed in his opening-round win over Ali Carter he is still a force to be reckoned with.

  20. Can Magician conjure up second title?published at 14:33 British Summer Time 26 April

    Maguire v Murphy (14:30 BST)

Hard to believe it's almost 20 years since Shaun Murphy won the World Championship with a fantastic fightback to beat Matthew Stevens.

It remains his only Crucible crown despite reaching three finals since - losing to John Higgins in 2009, Stuart Bingham in 2015 and Mark Selby in 2021.

Murphy has been a top-16 stalwart for the past two decades but has not enjoyed the best of seasons after a fine 2022-23 in which he won the Players Championship and Tour Championship.

He won the Championship League early doors but most of his best runs have come in non-ranking invitational events such as the Masters and Champion of Champions.
