Carter 5-4 Maguire
Stephen Maguire does indeed get the job done to leave this encounter delicately poised heading into their final session on Sunday evening.
Carter 5-3 Maguire
A ridiculous long red gets Stephen Maguire going as Ali Carter smiles at the audacity of his opponent.
The Scot quickly looks like he could get a frame back as he reaches 55 in no time.
John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Red Button
You can count on one hand the pots that Stephen Maguire has missed today but unfortunately for him every one has been costly.
He missed a black off the spot, a pink in the middle and that has changed this match.
Carter 5-3 Maguire
Over on the other table the screen is coming up with Ali Carter 5-3 ahead.
One more frame to come.
Trump 6-3 Vafaei
Hossein Vafaei was only two or three balls away from outscoring Judd Trump in that session.
The 2019 champion was just so ruthless, clinically mopping up every time he was left in.
Trump 6-3 Vafaei
Hossein Vafaei has this frame in the bag so goes for a trick shot. It doesn't come off but the fans inside the Crucible delight in it anyway.
That was as entertaining as anticipated and both players get a warm round of applause as they head off towards back stage.
Trump 6-2 Vafaei
Hossein Vafaei surely has the frame at his mercy here? He's playing beautifully and is up to 60 and counting. On the balance of play, few could argue he doesn't deserve this frame, given the way he has played so far.

Iran's Hossein Vafaei, ranked 19th in the world, beat Ding Junhui in the first round last year, before a heavy 13-2 thrashing at the hands of Ronnie O'Sullivan in the last 16.
After qualifying, Vafaei said: “I love to put myself in big events and stay in them as much as I can to show a good performance.
"I just love it and this is the reason why I love to be in the big events, I love the big crowds and love to be the centre of attention."
But it has been a largely painful afternoon for Vafael, who has seen his mistakes ruthlessly punished by world number two Judd Trump
Vafaei was 56-4, 67-0 and 44-8 ahead in the second, third and fifth frames respectively, only for Trump to win each frame, including one on the pink and one on the black.
But this is a chance for Vafaei to end his day on a high note. He will still be losing before this match concludes tomorrow, but 3-6 down is a lot better than being 2-7 behind.
Trump 6-2 Vafaei
It is 39 minutes since Hossein Vafaei has potted a ball so of course the last place he wants to be is tucked up on the baulk rail.
He plays a pretty good safety mind and with Judd Trump's reply coming up a little short he has the slight advantage.
Oh my word. What. A. Pot.
Vafaei plays a superb screw to knock a long red into the bottom right corner. Can he make a frame-winning contribution from that?

Shaun Murphy
2005 world champion on BBC Red Button
We are in must-win territory for Hossein Vafaei here. Not many of these best-of-19 matches are won from 7-2 down.
He has made some big breaks and only won two frames. Hossein could have won all four frames before the interval. This is a match that might go down as the scoreline not telling the whole story.
Trump 6-2 Vafaei
Judd Trump is looking so strong here.
Hossein Vafaei really needs to win this final frame of the session or you'd have thought he'll have too much to do when these two resume on Sunday afternoon.
Carter 4-3 Maguire
Ali Carter hits the front for the first time in his match with Stephen Maguire with a well-constructed break of 94.
Trump 5-2 Vafaei
Well very brief respite for Hossein Vafaei, who misses a long red to the left corner but leaves an identical shot for his opponent.
Judd Trump is normally very strong with these and knocks it in with ease.
The pink and black are a little awkward but you'd fancy him to win the frame from this position.
Trump 5-2 Vafaei
Judd Trump is putting the hammer down in the eighth frame until referee Rob Spencer says the pink won't respot on its spot and its new position at the bottom of the reds blocks his next ball.
He'll have to roll up to the pack. Respite for Hossein Vafaei.
Trump 5-2 Vafaei
Judd Trump is so clinical when he gets in. Plus he's got almost every shot in the book, albeit a cut all the way up the side cushion to the top corner doesn't go.
Not that it matters he's taken another frame in the race to 10 with a break of 77.
Trump 4-2 Vafaei
Judd Trump's cueing style is slightly unorthodox. He always cues up and looks to be missing but then never seems to.
He's up to 39 and closing in on another frame.
Carter 3-3 Maguire
The snooker gods are with Ali Carter at the minute, he gets out of a snooker on the blue and leaves his opponent with no pot and he then takes the frame after a Barney Rubble on the same ball.
What a match this is.
Trump 4-2 Vafaei
Talking of errors, a slight lapse from Hossein Vafaei sees him miss a red into the right corner. Will 'the Ace in the Pack' punish him?
Carter 2-3 Maguire
Tense stuff on table two as Stephen Maguire misses an easy yellow trying to keep perfect position on the green.
Ali Carter knocks it in from distance but then kisses the blue and can't get on the green. Two points in it.
Trump 4-2 Vafaei
Hossein Vafaei reduces his arrears.
A couple of fantastic pots contribute to a very timely century as he gets back on track.
His run of 138 is also the highest break at the World Championship so far on the opening day.
