    O'Sullivan 6-4 Pang

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

Another unforced error from Pang Junxu. He's not been punished yet this afternoon but you think it's only a matter of time - he can't keep getting away with these mistakes.

After O'Sullivan takes five attempts to hit a red off two cushions and gives away 16 points from fouls, Pang plays a loose safety to leave Ronnie right in among the balls.

  2. Ding needs to fight back...fastpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 27 April

    Brecel 9-1 Ding

This is turning into a mauling for Ding Junhui.

Two frames today. Both gone to Luca Brecel, who has scored 162 points to 11 for the Chinese player.

Brecel will be having a day off at this rate unless Ding finds his form.

  3. Postpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 27 April

    O'Sullivan 6-4 Pang

And more evidence that Ronnie O'Sullivan has not quite been at his best in this session so far - Pang Junxu misjudges a safety shot, but O'Sullivan's cut to the right corner stays up.

  4. Postpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 27 April

    O'Sullivan 6-4 Pang

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

Ronnie doesn't look quite comfortable today, he's started off very slowly and he doesn't want this match to get too close.

He can go through the gears, but Pang is a capable player and the more frames he wins easily, the less fear he will have for Ronnie and he'll relax into the match.

He's the sort of player Ronnie will not like playing because he's very methodical, very deliberate, even the simple shots he's steady on.

  5. Postpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 27 April

    O'Sullivan 6-4 Pang

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

Any player that's here, given chances and some breathing space, can start to look dangerous.

You always have to keep your opponent under it and Ronnie has let Pang off the hook there.

It was a tough blue [that O'Sullivan missed] but it's the sort of shot you'd expect him to get.

  6. Pang back within two framespublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 27 April

    O'Sullivan 6-4 Pang

Pang Junxu needed a quick start after losing the first session 6-2 and, with a little bit of help from his opponent, he's got it.

He's taken the first two frames of the session against Ronnie O'Sullivan.

A reminder that 13 frames is the target for victory in the second round. Frames 9-16 will be played in this session, with a possible nine to be played in Monday's concluding session.

  7. Postpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 27 April

    O'Sullivan 6-3 Pang

    BBC Two

Both players have had two chances now in frame 10. Scores are level with five reds remaining and all in decent positions.

Coverage of this match is now live on BBC Two.

  8. Brecel breezes onpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 27 April

    Brecel 8-1 Ding

He may not have been as quickfire as Saturday, when his performance brought a standing ovation, but Luca Brecel proves deadly again when given the chance.

The Belgian knocks in a perfect double en route to the ninth frame. He's 8-1 ahead and Ding Junhui already looks like a fighter at the end of a 12-round bout. He's struggling.

  9. Postpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 27 April

    O'Sullivan 6-3 Pang

Pang Junxu pounces on a loose break-off by Ronnie O'Sullivan in frame 10, knocking in a long red to get another contribution going.

The break ends on 19 when Pang finds the near jaw with a red to the middle.

It is a glorious day in Sheffield so if you're not able to watch the snooker inside, then what better than sitting in the sun in a deckchair watching it on a big screen with a drink in your hand?

    There are worse Sundays.

  11. 'Plane' sailing for Brecel again?published at 14:59 British Summer Time 27 April

    Brecel 7-1 Ding

You could say Luca Brecel, the 2023 world champion, had gone under the radar before this tournament.

But the Belgian jetted into Sheffield on a private plane on Saturday, arrived at the Crucible 25 minutes before play and delivered a masterclass as he went 7-1 ahead agaist Ding Junhui in the second round.

That display was described as the best one-session Crucible performance EVER by six-time world champion Steve Davis.

Brecel's engine is not running quite so hot today. The ninth frame is already the longest of the match and a fair way to go yet, although he is among the balls.

  12. Pang takes first frame of sessionpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 27 April

    O'Sullivan 6-3 Pang

Pang Junxu navigates the final hurdle of what becomes a frame-winning visit by playing a delicate cannon to split the two remaining reds.

The 25-year-old from China wins the opening frame of the session with a break of 87 and reduces his deficit to three.

  13. Postpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 27 April

    O'Sullivan 6-2 Pang

Pang Junxu, the world number 27, gets his first real chance of frame nine and has all of the remaining reds in pottable positions as he moves into the lead.

There's a bit of a nervy moment as a red trickles towards the middle pocket after Pang pots the black, but it stops just short.

  14. Postpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 27 April

    O'Sullivan 6-2 Pang

Pang Junxu tries for a long red into the corner but misses it by a little way. The red runs up and down the table and leaves Ronnie O'Sullivan an easy starter to the left middle.

O'Sullivan creates a few more loose reds from the blue and this is a good chance to make a fast start - although the cue ball is not quite on a string early in the break.

In fact, he has to play safe on 23.

As expected, it is a full house at the Crucible and if you have got a ticket for this session then you're in for a treat.

Ronnie O'Sullivan v Pang Junxu on table one and Luca Brecel against Ding Junhui on table two.

Will the two Chinese players make superb fightbacks and get themselves back into it?

  16. Postpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 27 April

    O'Sullivan 6-2 Pang

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC iPlayer

It's the easy things that let you down and that's what let Pang down, especially in the first four frames. If you do the easy stuff well, you've got a chance.

  17. Watch livepublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 27 April

    BBC iPlayer

MC Rob Walker has introduced the four players to the Crucible Theatre crowd and the action will be under way shortly.

There are two tables in play at this stage of the World Championship - you can watch dedicated coverage of both matches on the BBC iPlayer or via the "Watch and listen" tab at the top of this page.

Coverage on BBC Two starts at 15:00 BST.

  18. 'Class of 92' shine on super Saturday at the Cruciblepublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 27 April

Snooker's fabled "Class of 92" is still going strong, with two of its three most famous graduates having already booked their places in the World Championship quarter-finals.

Mark Williams, 50, will face 49-year-old John Higgins in the next round. Williams came through a tough test against Hossein Vafaei, while Higgins proved once again why he is absolute granite on a snooker table by winning a deciding frame against Xiao Guodong.

After his win, Higgins told the BBC: "It was different maybe 20-odd years ago when we were really big rivals - now we walk into the practice room and we give each other a nod as if to say: 'How are we still here competing with everybody?'

"It's incredible, and obviously you throw Ronnie into the mix as well - three special players."

Will Ronnie O'Sullivan, also aged 49, join them in the last eight?

Ronnie O'Sullivan was in superb form to complete his first-round victory over Ali Carter earlier this week. He could not quite match that display on Saturday, but 'The Rocket' still leads Pang Junxu 6-2 and is a strong favourite to reach the quarter-finals.

Is O'Sullivan your pick for the title? Or is there another player who you think will be lifting the famous trophy on 5 May?

  20. O'Sullivan takes four-frame lead into second sessionpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 27 April

Ronnie O'Sullivan holds a commanding lead after Saturday's first session against Chinese qualifier Pang Junxu.

The seven-time champion won the first four frames and ended 6-2 in front.

Pang had his chances, but was punished for his misses. It is a lesson he will need to have learned overnight, otherwise his hopes of a first Crucible quarter-final could be over fairly quickly.

As for O'Sullivan, he'll hope to be as close as possible to the winning post of 13 frames before Monday evening's conclusion.
