    Teenage British archer Megan Havers moved into the last 16 of the Olympic women's individual competition by beating France's Amelie Cordeau 6-5 after a shoot-off.

    The 16-year-old, who had earlier beaten Spain's Elia Canales 6-0, will now be in action again on Saturday at the Esplanade des Invalides.

    "It's absolutely amazing. There are so many emotions I am feeling right now," she said.

    "I'm going to have tomorrow off to relax and bring myself back down after today."

    Tom Hall will compete in the men's last 16 on Sunday after coming through an all-British encounter against Conor Hall on the final arrow.

    Tied at 5-5, Tom Hall was closest to the centre mark with his concluding effort to edge past his team-mate.

    Great Britain's Charlotte Fry has qualified for the dressage individual and team events at the Olympics.

    Reigning world champion Fry and her stallion Glamourdale, finished third in Group E with a score of 78.913%.

    The top two from each of the seven groups go through, along with the six next best scores.

    Fry's team-mate Becky Moody had already qualified by winning her group aboard Jagerbomb on Tuesday, while seven-time Olympian Carl Hester also qualified among the six scores with his horse, Fame.

    Team GB who are sitting in third in the team contest.

  3. Judoka Yeats-Brown loses in last 16published at 13:18 31 July

    Britain's Jemima Yeats-Brown lost out to Tokyo silver medallist Michaela Polleres of Austria in their round of 16 bout in the women's -70kg event in Paris.

    The 29-year-old from Kent had beaten her opponent from Madagascar in her opening bout.

    Yeats-Brown battled through almost two minutes of extra time against Polleres, who is a two-time European bronze medallist.

    Both fighters were on two penalties but the Austrian came through with a Waza-ari.

    Liam Pitchford was eliminated from the men's singles table tennis at the Olympics after a second-round defeat by Slovenia's Darko Jorgic in Paris.

    Pitchford, 31, fought back after losing the first two sets to make the score 3-2, but Jorgic pulled clear with a dominant sixth set.

    The Paris Olympics are Pitchford's fourth Games but he has never made it into the last 16, with Jorgic also knocking him out at the same stage at Tokyo 2020.

    The last 16 begins at 14:00 BST on Wednesday.
