Laura Robson ready for Caroline Wozniacki match at French Open

British number one Laura Robson will have high hopes of claiming another notable scalp when she plays Caroline Wozniacki at the French Open on Monday.

Robson is at a career-high ranking of 35 and has already beaten and Venus Williams this year.

Wozniacki, seeded 10th, is a former world number one but the Dane comes into the tournament on the back of four consecutive losses on clay.

The first-round match is scheduled third on Court Suzanne Lenglen, at approximately 14:00 BST, on a day which also sees Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova begin the defence of their titles.

Robson, 19, is looking for another strong run in a Grand Slam after beating and Li Na on her way to the last 16 of the US Open, and seeing off former Wimbledon champion Kvitova to make round three of the Australian Open.

It has not all been plain sailing for the Briton since then, however.

Six first-round losses this year amid some desperate serving led to a split with coach Zeljko Krajan earlier this month, with the departing Croat suggesting his former charge lacked maturity and commitment.

Whatever the truth of that, Robson has since beaten world number four Radwanska in Madrid and the elder Williams sister in Rome, before hitting enough winners to impress world number one Serena Williams in a second-round defeat.

The teenager has admitted she finds it easier to play well against the bigger names, and an out-of-form Wozniacki, 22, could prove to be an ideal opponent, with the pair preparing to meet for the first time.

Nadal, going for an eighth French Open title, takes on Germany's Daniel Brands in the second match on Court Philippe Chatrier, with Sharapova up against Su-Wei Hsieh of Chinese Taipei in the fourth match.

Britain's remaining singles players, Heather Watson and Elena Baltacha, will play their first-round matches on Tuesday.
