Paolini faces a fight to hang on to her advantage though. She fends off one break point as Krejcikova nets after Paolini had earlier ended up on the turf when trying to leap and keep a point alive.
But, even sitting on the Centre Court grass, she can laugh and smile about the situation. She probably wouldn't have expected to be sitting on the ground in Centre on finals day a couple of weeks ago.
She then has more to smile about as she holds.

Feels like nerves have got to Paolini at last. Hoping Jasmine can turn this around and win. Credit to Krejcikova, but really poor first set from Paolini.

Against Iga Swiatek in the French Open final in May, the Italian only won three games in a chastening defeat. She will be wanting to give a better account of herself at the very least today.

But if Paolini wants something to cling to, this is the exact score that she lost the first set of the semi-final to Donna Vekic.
On that occasion she went on to win an epic in a 10-point tie-break in a match that lasted two hours 51 minutes.
This one's not over, but the Czech player is dominating at the moment.
