    Great Britain 2-0 Finland

Finland have made a last-minute change to their doubles line-up with Otto Virtanen replacing Patrik Niklas-Salminen alongside Harri Heliovaara.

Fresh from that loss to Great Britain's Billy Harris, it looks like Virtanen wants to make up for things.

They'll be taking on Britain's Neal Skupski and Dan Evans shortly.

  5. Twenty years since Murray's first call-uppublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 11 September

We had wondered earlier how Great Britain would get on without Sir Andy Murray in the team. As it happens, they have come through with flying colours.

This tie marks 20 years since Murray was first included in a GB Davis Cup squad.

The then 17-year-old Scot received a call-up prior to his US Open boys' title win and went on to join Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski for an away tie in September 2004 against Austria.

Murray was ultimately a spectator as GB lost the World Cup 3-2 in Portschach - where Henman and Rusedski each won a singles rubber but lost the doubles as a pairing.

Together with captain Jeremy Bates, a fresh-faced Murray posed on a soggy day with his team-mates.

  6. How the group table standspublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 11 September

So, where does that leave us?

Two wins in the singles rubbers means Great Britain have already won that opening tie against Finland, which means they have earned their first point of the 2024 Davis Cup.

They will still play the doubles match as should there be a tie at the end of the week, total wins and losses will be taken into account.

Great Britain will take on Argentina on Friday before facing Canada on Sunday in their final round of group matches.

  7. 'Harris played the pressure points a little better'published at 17:20 British Summer Time 11 September

    Virtanen 4-6 6-7 (4-7) Harris

    Nick Lester
    Former British tennis player

I think Harris played the pressure points a little better. We didn't see Virtanen really have too many answers to the Harris serve aside from that one break that he was able to get, just a bit inconsistent and I didn't really feel like he was at any time playing his best tennis, the Finnish number one.

  8. Harris' highlight of 2024published at 17:17 British Summer Time 11 September

    Virtanen 4-6 6-7 (4-7) Harris

Billy Harris speaking on court after his victory: "[It was an] unbelievable atmosphere out here, the home crowd pulled me through in the end. When it was tight, the crowd getting behind me there made a big difference so thank you all."

On Otto Virtanen: "He's a very aggressive player and I knew he was going to serve big throughout the match so just a matter of getting the return in as much as possible and taking the chances when they came."

On 2024 highlight: "I think this has just topped it for me. We play week in, week out for ourselves and the first time playing for my country and a great start."

  9. 'Davis Cup debut Harris will never forget'published at 17:11 British Summer Time 11 September

A Davis Cup debut that Billy Harris will never forget. A victory that clinches the tie for Great Britain.

What a performance from the man who caused a stir on the grass this summer and has replicated that form in Manchester to claim a vital victory for the host nation here at the Manchester Arena.

Embraced by captain Leon Smith, it's been an extraordinary career, 10 years out of the limelight, well and truly in it here, indoors in Manchester.

Congratulations Billy Harris, what a display.

    Got it!

Billy Harris has secured the Davis Cup tie for Great Britain on his first appearance at the tournament!

    A brilliant performance.

There was a bit of a wobble there in the second set where Otto Virtanen got back into the match but Harris kept his cool to get the job done.

  11. Tie-breakpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 11 September

    Virtanen 4-6 6-6 (4-6) Harris*

That's a great forehand winner down the line from Otto Virtanen and he saves the first of three match points.

    *Virtanen 4-6 6-6 (3-5) Harris

Billy Harris nails the smash volley and gestures for the crowd to make some noise.

Otto Virtanen knows he struggles in the rallies so he's desperate to nail these first serves.

But Billy Harris returns that one and the Finn can only find the net. There's the mini-break for Harris!

    Nick Lester

Well Virtanen's won three points in the breaker and all of them have been aces, by my count.

  15. Tie-breakpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 11 September

    Virtanen 4-6 6-6 (3-3) Harris*

Otto Virtanen's return is long and that keeps us on serve at the change of ends. Nothing between these two so far.

  16. Tie-breakpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 11 September

    Virtanen 4-6 6-6 (3-2) Harris*

Otto Virtanen's forehand is wide but the Finn produces another couple of aces to move ahead.

The British bench, including Jack Draper, are all on their feet for this one, willing their man on.

    Virtanen 4-6 6-6 Harris

Well that's a big boost of confidence for Billy Harris heading into this tie-break.

  19. Postpublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 11 September

    Virtanen 4-6 6-5 Harris*

    Philip Studd
    Davis Cup commentator

Well played. That was calm, that was cool from Virtanen as he edges back in front and guarantees himself a second set tie-break, which he would certainly have taken when he trailed 4-2.

  20. Virtanen holdspublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 11 September

    Virtanen 4-6 6-5 Harris*

Otto Virtanen takes the hold and has guaranteed himself at least a tie-break.

He looks like a different player to the one we saw in the first set and in the opening few games of this second set.

What has Billy Harris got now?
