All the effort Federico Gomez had to exert to force his way back into the opening set now seems to be catching up with him as he appears to be fading.
Gomez looks a little laboured when moving around the court but still retains the power to smash home winners - he does that successfully enough to hold to 30.

The 21-year-old American, runner-up in 2022, won 6-2 6-4 in just 75 minutes on Court Suzanne Lenglen, to set up a meeting with Marie Bouzkova after the Czech player defeated Briton Sonay Kartal earlier today.
Next up on that court, it's the turn of 24-time major winner Novak Djokovic, who could be in for a lively evening against the passionately-backed Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
