Summary

  1. 'The most comfortable I have seen De Minaur'published at 14:31 British Summer Time 7 July

    De Minaur 6-1 0-1 Djokovic*

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

This is the most comfortable I have seen De Minaur mentally against a top guy.

Djokovic's blood will be boiling inside. I love the way De Mianur is playing. He is throwing Djokovic some meaningful looks and it is putting Novak off.

It is dangerous when you can move like De Minaur. That was not a good drop shot by Djokovic, by his standards.

    Cilic 4-6 4-6 7-6 (7-4) 6-6 Cobolli

Flavio Cobolli has come through all three of his matches so far in straight sets.

It's been a tough contest against the wily Marin Cilic and after more than three hours on court, we're into a fourth-set tie-break.

  3. Fourth break point for De Minaurpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 7 July

Another break point goes begging for Alex de Minaur with a forehand sent well long.

However, he keeps the rally going for a long time on the next point and after a succession of slices, Novak Djokovic finds the net.

Third point point but still De Minaur can't take it, putting a return into the net this time.

This game has been going for more than 12 minutes and as De Minaur brings up his fourth break point...

  4. 'Djokovic struggling with low ball'published at 14:24 British Summer Time 7 July

    De Minaur 6-1 0-1 Djokovic*

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

Djokovic seems to be having trouble with the low ball here in the first 40 minutes or so. His serve percentage has been poor at only 54% so far. That is pretty unheard of for him.

The crowd are a bit stunned at what they are seeing so far.

  5. Djokovic saves break pointpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 7 July

Half a chance for Alex de Minaur at 30-30 but he pushes his backhand just wide.

However, Novak Djokovic dumps a backhand tamely into the net to take it to deuce and De Minaur's backhand wrong-foots the Serb at the next to bring up a break back point.

A wayward forehand sees the chance slip away for De Minaur but Djokovic still has to finish this game off...

  6. Alexandrova holdspublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 7 July

    Alexandrova 6-7 (4-7) 1-1 Bencic

It's been a rather subdued start to the second set on court one.

Both players have held on their serve but neither of them are particularly happy with the way they're playing right now.

There's a lot of post-point gesticulating going on, with both players trying to find some consistency.

  7. Postpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 7 July

    Cilic 4-6 4-6 7-6 (7-4) 4-5 Cobolli*

    Jess Anderson
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Flavio Cobolli cups his hand to his ear as he immediately breaks back and that's the first real bit of interaction we've seen from him in this tough encounter.

A technique used by Carlos Alcaraz to get the crowd on his side. The two are good friends so perhaps that's where he's learned that one?

A lot of support so far on court two has been for Marin Cilic but a group of Italian fans get a chant of Cobolli's name going.

He holds the next game to put himself within one game of the set.

  8. 'I knew Novak would break early'published at 14:20 British Summer Time 7 July

    De Minaur 6-1 0-1 Djokovic*

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

I would have bet most of my life savings on Novak getting that first break in the second set.

It is nice to see someone use the court coverage and their speed as Alex De Minaur did in that game. He has put that one-handed slice to good effect early.

  9. Postpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 7 July

    De Minaur 6-1 0-1 Djokovic*

    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic was up and behind the baseline long before the chair umpire called the players back to the court for the start of set two.

A couple of excellent opening points quickly suggested he has already moved on from a puzzling opening half an hour, and we have confirmation as he claims an immediate break.

The crowd have really got behind the 38-year-old in the last 10 minutes or so, sensing he needs a hand to get himself going in this one. But he really is the best in the business at swiftly moving on from any setback.

A response from Novak Djokovic was inevitable. He breaks immediately to start the second set.

A lovely cross-court passing shot puts him up 0-15 before he is brought forward by Alex de Minaur and whips the ball over the Australian for 0-30.

He gets two break points and needs just one, flicking a backhand down the line beyond a helpless De Minaur.

    Got it!

Big cheers as Marin Cilic finds the crucial break of serve. Could we be going the distance here?

The winner of this one would face either Novak Djokovic or Alex de Minaur in the quarter-finals.

  12. 'Djokovic is disgusted with himself'published at 14:12 British Summer Time 7 July

    *De Minaur 6-1 0-0 Djokovic

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

Djokovic is disgusted with himself. This is pleasantly surpassing for De Minaur. He didn't have to do anything he didn't want to out there.

If Djokovic plays like this for another two sets, he may retire on the spot!

  13. Postpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 7 July

    Cilic 4-6 4-6 7-6 (7-4) 3-3 Cobolli*

    Jess Anderson
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

The court two crowd are very much willing this one to go the distance with a lot of support for Marin Cilic as he brings up break points on the Flavio Cobolli serve in set four.

It's been an enthralling encounter so far so it's little wonder they want it to go on.

  14. Game and first set - Bencicpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 7 July

    Alexandrova 6-7 (4-7) Bencic

    Belinda BencicImage source, PA Media

Belinda Bencic takes the first set after an enthralling 61 minutes.

She was as comfortable as you could be, going a double break up.

But Ekaterina Alexandrova upped the intensity, winning four games in a row.

The Russian had the momentum going into the tie-break but Bencic looked more assured and took it home.

  15. 'Never seen Djokovic play a worse set'published at 14:09 British Summer Time 7 July

An inconsistent start from the former champion. He is really struggling to find his flow.

It is hard to believe we are watching this right now. De Minaur is making it look easy. I have never seen Djokovic play a worse set than this.

Alex de Minaur has raced through that first set against the seven-time Wimbledon champion!

Another unforced error from Novak Djokovic - he totalled 16 in the first set - gifts De Minaur three set points.

He puts the first into the net but it's another Djokovic error on the next and the Australian is a set up in just 30 minutes.

  18. Postpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 7 July

    De Minaur 5-1 Djokovic*

    Harry Poole
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Something seems really off with Novak Djokovic here.

Several double-faults already, uncharacteristic misses, and he doesn't even attempt to reach Alex de Minaur's passing winner on the opening point of his latest service game.

The body language is not great, either. Perhaps he has just given up on this set ready to start afresh. It won't be long until we get to find out with the way this is going.

  19. De Minaur holdspublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 7 July

    De Minaur 5-1 Djokovic*

This first set looks to be heading towards a swift conclusion - but not in the way you might have thought before it started.

Alex de Minaur has been brilliant but Novak Djokovic has been nowhere.

An overhead smash from De Minaur wraps up his latest straightforward hold. Djokovic will now serve to stay in the first set.

  20. Bencic hits backpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 7 July

    Alexandrova 6-6 (3-3) Bencic*

Belinda Bencic wins three points of her own to level in this tie-break.

What a back and forth so far.
