Much more like it from Briton Hewett who gets court three clapping with an immediate break back.

There's plenty shouting "come on Alfie" and "let's go Alf" all around the stands, now bathed in sunshine.

In his match yesterday he may have been broken early, but he then went on to win six games in a row.

    More of the same today?

For the third consecutive singles match Alfie Hewett is broken in his first service game.

Argentine Gustavo Fernandez roars "vamos" towards his coach and pumps his fist.

The 30-year-old former world number one is a three-time winner at Wimbledon, once in the singles in 2019 and twice in the doubles in 2015 and 2022.

He also beat Hewett in the semi-finals of the French Open six weeks ago.

  4. Fernandez gets early breakpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 12 July

    *Fernandez 2-0 Hewett

Alfie Hewett starts his service game with an excellent forehand and Gustavo Fernandez's shot goes long to make it 0-30.

Hewett's drop shot is well read by Fernandez who hits a well-placed forehand to get on the board before another forehand goes long.

Great depth from Fernandez causes Hewett to hit into the net and he brings the game to deuce.

Fernandez then turns the game around to seal an early break.

"Vamos!" cries Fernandez after breaking Hewett at the first time of asking.

The defending champion, 21, has a positive record over 28-year-old Medvedev having won four of their six matches, although the Russian did win a last-four tie between the pair at the US Open 10 months ago.

Medvedev will take confidence from beating world number one Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals, while Alcaraz beat Tommy Paul in four sets.

Good afternoon from Wimbledon everyone and what a start to the day it's been!

I've just passed one corner outside Centre Court where a live orchestral band were jamming to the Grandstand theme.

A few fans were practically rocking, while I - inspired by the tunes - have smashed my PB and made it on to court three in record time.

Alfie Hewett is on court, warming up with Gustavo Fernandez before the pair's wheelchair singles semi-final.
