A bit of wobble for Taylor Fritz as he strikes the net chord for love 30 on his serve. A little window for Lorenzo Musetti? Fritz gets it back to 30 all but he attempts a tweener to a lob from the Italian but bungles it between the tramlines.

Musetti then grabs a break point to give himself a chance to serve for the set.

Musetti is finding a little bit more rhythm with that first serve now, allowing him to stay in control as we head to the business end of this set.

A rapid service game to love from Lorenzo Musetti gives him some momentum as we enter the business end of the second set.

There's a few clouds lingering over Court One but we should be safe from any rain for the time being.

Jan Zielinski and Su-wei Hsieh remain in control of the match as Zielinski holds on serve with an ace.

Heather Watson and Joe Salisbury have been involved in some thrilling points, including a brilliant diving volley which was met by huge applause from the Centre Court crowd.

Italy have invested in their tournament structure. They don’t need to travel, they play at home and can keep expenses down as much as possible, and can still get ranking points

    That has been hugely beneficial.

Taylor Fritz has Lorenzo Musetti scampering hither and thither during an entertaining service game. At 30-15 the Italian is drawn into the net, then finds himself desperately attempting to get back to the baseline after a lob.

A 122mph ace slap bang down the middle gives Fritz the game.

At 6ft 5in, Taylor Fritz is not an easy man to lob. He gets to a drop shot, Lorenzo Musetti hurries that down and goes for height, but Fritz leaps, gets there and sends away a winner with a backhand smash.

He's pumped up, the crowd too, but Musetti does later get the vital hold.

No clear favourite of the two among the fans, both players getting large rounds of applause when they do anything deserving. It's a busy day with play all around Wimbledon, but we're pretty much full here - and the crowd are enjoying what they're seeing.

    Champagne tennis!

A brilliant drop shot rally at the net culminates in a backhand smash winner from Taylor Fritz to give himself a break point.

However, Lorenzo Musetti battles back with some big serves to take the game.

I think Musetti’s intent in was those rallies, his groundstrokes were more aggressive.

He's shown great resilience and he has some better energy and some positivity.

This is the Wimbledon quarter-finals and Musetti is there for a reason.

I first saw Musetti when he was 17 at a challenger event in Como in 2019. He took a set off the then world no 82 Stefano Travaglia. You could see he was special then!

Taylor Fritz is nervously fiddling with his headband between serves, but he has too much power for his opponent as he gets his serve back on track in the fourth game of the second set.

Lorenzo Musetti either under hits or spoons his returns to hand Fritz an easy game.

Just when I was saying he had not created any break points since game one of set one, Musetti gets to 15-40 and then takes the opportunity. A roar, a fist pump from him and it's 1-1.

The crowd cheer their approval. Everyone here wants to see a fine, lengthy match. As long as it doesn't go beyond 8pm, of course.

    Molto bene, Lorenzo Musetti.

The Italian does not buckle and takes the service game of Taylor Fritz after the American overhits a forehand return at 15-40.

That will give an injection of confidence to Musetti.

It's all going to plan for Taylor Fritz at the moment with a set advantage and now a break of serve at the end of a lengthy game to open off the second set.

We're only at the 53-minute mark and Fritz seems to have all the answers to the Musetti questions at the moment.

The Italian has only crafted two break-point chances and both of those came in the very first game of the match.

Still plenty of time for things to change though.

In 2021, an Italian (Matteo Berrettini) played a Wimbledon final on the same day as the Euro’s final. He lost but his team won. I wonder if Carlos Alcaraz is thinking about that now.

Musetti’s mind set on other surfaces is that he’s happy to sit back and stay in the rallies. He can’t do that on a grass court and especially against a big ball striker like Fritz.

He is struggling with that first serve rhythm. He is giving Fritz way too many looks at second serves and putting himself under pressure.

Good footwork from Lorenzo Musetti allows him to save a break point and prompts a mini fist pump from the Italian who, in truth, has been quite stoic so far.

However, the world number 25 hands Taylor Fritz the opening game not long after with a wild forehand which goes beyond the baseline.

The first set is decided on a tie-break.

Jan Zielinski's thumping forehand is followed by a huge roar as the set is won by the seventh seeds. They were 1-4 down at one point but showed huge character to come back.

Joe Salisbury and Heather Watson have it all to do.
