Elena Rybakina has reached the quarter-finals of the French Open twice before, in 2021 and last year.

While Iga Swiatek will be a tough test today, she easily dispatched former champ Jelena Ostapenko 6-2 6-2 in the previous round and has defeated Swiatek on clay twice before.

On facing Swiatek, Rybakina said: "It's tough to play against Iga on clay. She spins the ball really well. She has unbelievable intensity on the court, so it is not easy.”

If our match is half as exciting as the one before, we'll be doing alright.

Iga Swiatek is known as the 'Queen of Clay' after winning four of the past five French Open titles and the defending champion will face a tough test against 12th seed Elena Rybakina.

They have faced each other in eight matches, twice on clay and Rybakina has won both of those encounters.

Swiatek has a remarkable record of 24 consecutive wins at the French Open and she will be determined to keep that run going.

We're a little behind schedule on Court Philippe Chatrier, and that's down to an epic played out between Jasmine Paolini and Elina Svitolina in the early match.

Fourth seed Paolini has been in great form having won the singles and doubles in Rome, and raced into a 6-4 4-1 lead.

But Ukrainian 13th seed Svitolina rallied, breaking back a few times and saving three match points before taking a nervy tie-break 8-6.

That did the damage. Paolini was unable to recover and lost the deciding set 6-1.

  11. Hello!published at 12:42 British Summer Time 1 June

Great to have you with us for a super Sunday of tennis.

We're going to start with 'Queen of Clay' Iga Swiatek up against former Wimbledon champ Elena Rybakina.

This will be a properly good tie between two heavyweights and it should be getting under way in a few minutes.

I'm still recovering from last night's Doctor Who finale - so some more high-intensity, thrilling drama is exactly what I'm looking for.
