  1. Lehecka holdspublished at 20:00 British Summer Time 2 September

    Lehecka 4-6 2-6 1-0 Alcaraz*

Jiri Lehecka holds on his opening service game in a set for the first time in this match.

It didn't look like he would when he went 0-30 down, but the Czech wins four points in a row to get himself on the board.

I feel like Alcaraz has had this level from the outset and he has dominated once again, quite simply.

  3. Game and second set - Alcarazpublished at 19:56 British Summer Time 2 September

    *Lehecka 4-6 2-6 0-0 Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz goes two sets up and the most worrying thing for Jiri Lehecka is that it looks like the Spaniard has another gear to go into if he so pleases.

The world number two was imperious there - remaining focused, working the point and making smart shot choices.

Lehecka did little wrong but it's only natural to feel deflated when even your best isn't good enough against Alcaraz.

  4. Alcaraz breakspublished at 19:50 British Summer Time 2 September

    Lehecka 4-6 2-5 Alcaraz*

Carlos Alcaraz takes a huge step towards winning this second set by earning the double break.

Time seemed to stand still as the Spaniard came around the ball at the baseline to power a forehand down the line for 15-30.

Lehecka then balloons a return into the crowd, before double faulting to hand Alcaraz a 2-5 lead. The Spaniard's playing tennis from a different planet right now.

  5. Alcaraz holdspublished at 19:45 British Summer Time 2 September

    *Lehecka 4-6 2-4 Alcaraz

    Carlos Alcaraz. Goodness gracious me.

Jiri Lehecka goes 15-30 up and sniffs a break point opportunity.

He powers a backhand passing shot as Carlos Alcaraz approaches the net but the Spaniard somehow sorts his hands in time to deftly hit a volleyed winner.

It's just ludicrous tennis from the world number two.

  6. 'A lightning bolt from Alcaraz'published at 19:42 British Summer Time 2 September

    Lehecka 4-6 2-3 Alcaraz*

That was a lightning bolt up the line from Alcaraz. Lehecka might just have whiplash from what just happened to him. It was a blistering backhand winner from Alcaraz.

You just wonder how spirit-crushing that might be for Lehecka.

  7. Lehecka holdspublished at 19:39 British Summer Time 2 September

    Lehecka 4-6 2-3 Alcaraz*

You know what I said earlier about Carlos Alcaraz easily returning Jiri Lehecka's best shots?

Well, the Czech powered a forehand into the corner only for the rushing Spaniard to send it flying down the line with a backhand winner to go 30-40 up.

Credit to Lehecka, he saved the break point and then secured the hold to avoid the double break.

That felt like a match-saving hold.

Carlos Alcaraz is so good that it feels like he's playing a game against himself sometimes.

The Spaniard made a couple of poor shot choices there, including a drop shot that was never on and was poorly executed.

But any time the world number two gives the Czech a look-in, he closes the door immediately.

This time, with an ace to hold and to maintain his break lead.

  10. 'Lehecka not finding any inroads'published at 19:35 British Summer Time 2 September

    *Lehecka 4-6 1-3 Alcaraz

    Mark Woodforde

Right now, without a doubt, Carlos is sending down a healthy amount of first serves. The second serve is full velocity as well. From what I can see, Lehecka is taking full strikes at returning first and second serves and it's not providing any inroads. He's not seen a break point on the Alcaraz serve.

  11. Lehecka holds to lovepublished at 19:30 British Summer Time 2 September

    Lehecka 4-6 1-2 Alcaraz*

Well, Jiri Lehecka will be hoping for more holds like that in the remainder of this match.

The Czech gets it to love, and it almost felt like Carlos Alcaraz was taking a breather.

The Spaniard's known for taking his eye off the ball - so to speak - and I'm not saying he has but Lehecka will be hoping for a dip in his standards.

  12. Alcaraz holdspublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 2 September

    *Lehecka 4-6 0-2 Alcaraz

It must be soul-destroying for Jiri Lehecka.

On the rare occasions that Carlos Alcaraz doesn't take the point away from him, the Czech is having to produce his best just to stay in it.

But the world number two seems to be able to easily return Lehecka's best shots, which forces him to try to be ultra-accurate and that leads to mistakes.

  13. 'It's been nip and tuck'published at 19:25 British Summer Time 2 September

    Lehecka 4-6 0-1 Alcaraz*

    Mark Woodforde

Since Lehecka was broken early in his first service game, he's upped his level and it's been nip and tuck and that last game certainly was one of the tighter ones that Alcaraz has had to survive.

The Spaniard will be well aware of the quality that his opponent has but at the moment he's travelling just that bit better.

  14. Alcaraz breakspublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 2 September

    Lehecka 4-6 0-1 Alcaraz*

Just as Jiri Lehecka looked as though he was up to speed in this match, history repeats itself.

The Czech loses his serve on his opening service game for a second consecutive set.

But that had as much to do with Carlos Alcaraz than anything else. The Spaniard's footwork and agility are something to behold, with the world number two reaching shots that would be dead for any other player.

  15. Double break point Alcarazpublished at 19:23 British Summer Time 2 September

    *Lehecka 4-6 0-0 Alcaraz

Huge opportunity for Carlos Alcaraz *again*.

  16. Game and first set - Alcarazpublished at 19:18 British Summer Time 2 September

    *Lehecka 4-6 0-0 Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz wraps up the opening set and he very much looks in the groove out there.

The Spaniard came flying out of the blocks, breaking Jiri Lehecka in his opening service game.

But the Czech grew into that set and forced the world number two to deuce for the first time in the final game of that set.

  18. Lehecka holdspublished at 19:12 British Summer Time 2 September

    Lehecka 4-5 Alcaraz*

Jiri Lehecka will be ruing his slow start to this match because this is much, much better from the Czech.

He goes 40-0 up with a brilliant cross-court forehand winner from wide of the tramlines.

Nevertheless, Carlos Alcaraz has the chance to serve for this first set.

    *Lehecka 3-5 Alcaraz

A hold for Carlos Alcaraz, but a half chance gone missing for Jiri Lehecka.

At 30-30 the Czech nets a simple forehand return and then balloons one long to let Alcaraz off the hook.

That was an opportunity to break back.

Alcaraz has been dominant since April even though he has had to share the two Grand Slam titles with Sinner.
