    Are the wheels coming off?

Moutet self-destructs by hitting a forehand needlessly long. That's a break back - and to love to boot.

The Frenchman tosses his racquet to the floor, gently, not a throw. He gets away with no warning but you can see Moutet's frustration at himself.

  13. A matter of timingpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 19 June

Quite a surreal moment at breakfast in my hotel this morning.

I was watching a clip of Corentin Moutet getting hit in the face by a tennis ball during his match with Taylor Fritz earlier this week and moments later the man himself wandered in to grab a coffee.

Given he can be quite fiery on the court, I'm glad he didn't arrive a few moments earlier...

It will be interesting to see how he is on court today.

    Fearnley 3-0 Moutet*

Jacob Fearnley looks right at home on the Andy Murray Arena. He gallops towards the net to cut down Corentin Moutet's options and the Frenchman, trying to pass, wellies one into the net.

    A hold to 30.

  15. Boulter faces Kartal in Nottinghampublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 19 June

Elsewhere, there's an all-British tie between Katie Boulter and Sonay Kartal at the Nottingham Open.

Boulter is the two-time defending champion at Nottingham but Kartal, who has had a huge rise in the past year, will be tricky to contend with.

If you're in the UK, you can watch that match live.

  18. Corentin’s quite the characterpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 19 June

Jacob Fearnley’s opponent Corentin Moutet has previous when it comes to displaying his fiery side on court.

The world number 89 has been known to break racquets and argue with both umpires and opponents and a few months ago he was even involved in an on-court scuffle with Bulgarian Adrian Andreev at a Challenger event in his native France.

Away from tennis he’s big into his music. He plays the piano and enjoys rapping and he’s even released an eight-song EP entitled ‘Ecorche’, or ‘Skin’, back in 2020.

That was a bit concerning initially for Fearnley as Moutet came racing out of the blocks but great work by the Brit to produce some big-hitting tennis and rescue the hold.

A little shake of the fist follows the game-winning point.

  20. Fearnley holdspublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 19 June

    Fearnley 1-0 Moutet*

Five points in a row, and Jacob Fearnley has his hold - from 0-40 down.

    No panic.
