Jamie Donaldson believes "a few technical adjustments" could herald good form in his first Open Championship appearance at St Andrews.

The 39-year-old Welshman has not played in an Open at the Old Course.

Donaldson was disappointed after finishing five under par as Rickie Fowler won the the Scottish Open.

"I just need to hole a few putts maybe, but it will be awesome to play my first Open there," he said.

"It's the best place the Open could be held at, the home of golf."

Donaldson says he has been putting in "lots of range time" in an effort to improve his performances to be ready for the event.

"I'm just working on a few things at the moment," he said.

"I can't really figure it out - I'm having lots of range time, just trying to make a few technical adjustments, but my game's not far off."
