Colin Jackson tips Seren Bundy-Davies for Rio Olympic medal

Legendary former hurdler Colin Jackson has tipped 400m runner Seren Bundy-Davies as the likeliest Welsh track and field athlete to win a medal at the Rio Olympics.

Bundy-Davies, 21, hopes to run in the individual race and the 4x400m relay.

She won relay bronze at last year's World Championships, and former 100m hurdles world record holder Jackson thinks the podium beckons in Rio.

"She should be one we look out for," he told BBC Radio Wales Sport.

"I never can hang medals around people's necks - you'd be a fool to do that.

"But when you've got somebody who's an integral part of that 4x400m relay team, and a very strong relay team at that, that's one of the reasons why I say she'll probably be one of the Welsh athletes to come home with a medal.

"I think she could be progressing really nicely as an individual as well so I expect to see her at least lining up in the semi-final."

Bundy-Davies missed March's World Indoor Championships as she focuses on qualifying for the Olympics.

She finished second in the individual 400m at the Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix in February, having won individual bronze at the 2015 European Indoor Championships.

"Seren's had a cracking indoor season. I love what she's done," added Jackson.

"When you look at somebody who's got real potential in our sport, in athletics, to make it big time, she should be one we look out for."
