Tyson Frizell has made five appearances for Wales

Wales and St George Illawarra Dragons second rower Tyson Frizell will be on the bench for New South Wales in the second 2016 State of Origin game.

Frizell, 24, was called up after Wade Graham was given a one-week ban for a high tackle on Johnathan Thurston.

Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks second row Graham committed the foul in their win against North Queensland on Monday.

If Frizell plays he could be the first Wales international to play in the State of Origin since its inception.

"I feel for Wade. It's not nice seeing something like that happen. He's in the position I am wanting to play State of Origin and to be stripped away from him like that for something I didn't think was too bad at all," Frizell said.

He made his Wales debut against Ireland in 2011 and featured twice in the Four Nations tournament the same year.

As Wales are not a tier one nation in international rugby league, Frizell received a call up from Tonga in 2015 but re-affirmed his commitment to Wales.
