Becky Morgan says she is in confident mood ahead of the Women's British Open which starts in Woburn on Thursday.
The 41-year-old from Abergavenny makes up a contingent of three Welsh golfers alongside Lydia Hall and Amy Boulden.
Morgan let a three shot lead slip before finishing joint third at the Scottish Open last week, but says her form there was a boost.
"Last week was great. I missed a chance to win, but it gives me confidence going into this week," she said.
"I'm excited to play because I haven't played in the British Open for the past couple of years because I haven't qualified.
"But this year I qualified three months ago so I knew in advance I was going to be in and it's great that there's three Welsh competitors - we haven't had that for a while.
"And we're back to Woburn where we used to play a long time ago so it should be a good week."
Morgan has played on the United States-based LPGA Tour for more than a decade and says the course is closer in layout to the ones she is used to playing on in the America.
"It's not your traditional British Open golf course," she said.
"We normally play links courses, but this one is very much in trees - it the most Americanised British Open course we'll ever play but it's in really good shape and I really like it.
"The last few months in the states I've been doing fairly well and it's very competitive over there and I've had some decent finishes."
Defending champion Inbee Park will not be at Woburn because of a thumb injury, but world number one Lydia Ko will compete.
The 19-year-old New Zealander is looking to maintain her impressive record in majors this year after winning the ANA Inspiration and coming second and third in the Women's PGA Championship and US Women's Open respectively.
