Liam Williams has the potential to become one of Wales' all-time boxing greats according to promoter Frank Warren.
British and Commonwealth super-welterweight champion Williams is undefeated in 16 professional fights.
The 24-year-old faces Hungary's Gabor Gorbics on Saturday.
"I've been dealing with all the great Welsh fighters over the years and for me Liam could be up there with them," Warren said.
"I think Liam is a fantastic fighter, a really good boxer, a great puncher and for me he can make next year his year and become a crossover fighter."
Warren previously worked with Welsh boxers including two-weight world champion Joe Calzaghe and former British, Commonwealth and European welterweight champion Colin Jones.
The vacant WBO European super-welterweight title will be on the line when Williams faces 29-year-old Gorbics, who has 22 wins and four losses, at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena.
Williams had been scheduled to face Ahmet Patterson in a British super-welterweight title bout on Saturday.
But Patterson was forced to pull out after suffering injuries to his head and right eye when he was attacked while on a training run in London.
Warren says Williams should be more than capable of dealing with the late change in opponent.
"He's been training for a specific opponent and style for the last eight weeks," Warren told BBC Radio Wales Sport.
"It's very difficult and you have to readjust yourself.
"But he's competent and professional enough to be able to do that."
