    Kagami won her first ever Olympic medal

    Japan won two freestyle wrestling gold medals as Kotaro Kiyooka and Yuka Kagami won in their respective weight categories.

    Kiyooka, 23, triumphed in the men’s 65kg as he beat Iran’s Rahman Amouzadkhalili in the final.

    Albania’s Islam Dudaev claimed bronze.

    Meanwhile, 22-year-old Kagami came out on top in the women’s 76kg, beating the USA’s Kennedy Blades, who took silver.

    Cuba’s Milaimys Marin and Colombia’s Tatiana Renteria won bronze.

    In the men’s 97kg, Bahrain’s Akhmed Tazhudinov claimed gold, defeating Georgia’s silver-winning Givi Matcharashvili.

    Iran’s Amirali Azarpira and Azerbaijan’s Magomedkhan Magomedov won bronze.

    Wrestlers from Uzbekistan, Georgia and Japan all won Olympic gold medals at Paris 2024 on Saturday.

    Uzbekistan's Razambek Jamalov took the men's 74kg freestyle Olympic title, beating Japan's Daichi Takatani who claimed silver.

    Kyle Dake of the United States and Albania's Chermen Valiev won bronze.

    Geno Petriashvili of Georgia clinched gold in the men's 125kg, while Iran's Amir Hossein Zare took silver.

    Taha Akgul of Turkey and Giorgi Meshvildishvil of Azerbaijan secured bronze.

    Sakura Motoki of Japan won the women's 62kg freestyle gold, while Ukraine's Iryna Koliadenko settled for silver.

    Bronze medals were won by Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan and Grace Bullen of Norway.

    Japan cemented its spot at the top of wrestling's medal table with two more freestyle gold medals on Friday.

    In the women's 57kg class, Tsugumi Sakurai beat Moldova's Anastasia Nichita in the gold-medal match.

    American Helen Maroulis - the 53kg champion at Rio 2016 - claimed her third Olympic medal with a second straight bronze, and China's Hong Kexin claimed the other bronze.

    Rei Higuchi improved on the silver he won at Rio 2016 by beating American Spencer Lee to claim the men's 57kg title.

    Japan now have five wrestling golds overall, while India's Aman Sehrawat and Gulomjon Abdullaev of Uzbekistan won the bronze medals.

    Bulgaria's Magomed Ramazanov was Friday's other gold medallist in the men's 86kg class.

    Iran's Hassan Yazdani - the 2016 champion at 74kg - had to settle for a second straight silver, while American Aaron Brooks and Greece's Dauren Kurugliev both won bronze.
