Ruairi Paton's 17th league goal of the season helped keep Queen's Park stay in the Championship for another season

Queen's Park ensured they will play in the Scottish Championship for a third straight season after defeating play-offs bound Airdrieonians at Hampden.

Ruairi Paton's 17th league goal of the season and Liam McLeish's late strike proved enough for Callum Davidson's men to grab the win they needed to stay ahead of Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Paton finished well after Cillian Sheridan's block fell to him before the break, before McLeish rifled home with seven minutes left to ease nerves at Hampden.

The Spiders finish the campaign in eighth spot, while fourth-place Airdrieonians host Partick Thistle in the first leg of their play-off quarter-final on Tuesday, which will be broadcast live on BBC Scotland.

The winner of that tie will then face second-place Raith Rovers over two legs in the semi-final.
