Dolphin trail raises more than £40,000 at auction

The money raised will be split between Autism Guernsey and GSPCA

A decorated dolphin trail raised more than £40,000 at an auction and more than £80,000 overall for charity.
The Dolphin Discovery Trail 2025, which ended in a charity auction at the Peninsula Hotel raised money for Autism Guernsey and The Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA).
The event featured 62 dolphin statues which were sponsored by local businesses or groups and were decorated by artists, schools and community organisations.
Andrew Sparks, director of Autism Guernsey, said: "It's been a privilege to be part of such a creative and impactful initiative. The funds raised will make a real difference to the lives of those we support."

GSPCA said about 36 pre-bids came in before the auction started, starting from £500.
The highest bid of the evening was £1,600 for a dolphin named Fairytale, sponsored by TISE and painted by Dom Ogier-Keltie.
Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager and lead organiser, said: "We are absolutely blown away by the generosity and enthusiasm of everyone involved."
He thanked the Peninsula Hotel, Artex, Guernsey Freemasons, and "all who helped make the night so special."
"With the GSPCA doing the biggest build in our history and working 24/7 helping animals and our community these funds will help make a real difference and we are already looking to the future for the next big event and trail."
