Traffic on the M5 in Worcestershire was stopped in both directions for almost three hours due to a "police led incident", according to National Highways.

The closure was first reported at about 13:00 GMT, with both carriageways shut between junction six, for Worcester, and five for Droitwich.

At one point, National Highways said drivers faced delays of at least 80 minutes northbound and 60 minutes southbound before it was reopened just before 16:00.

An air ambulance was deployed to the scene, alongside other emergency services. West Mercia Police has been contacted for more information.
