A cyclist remains in hospital following the serious collision, police said

A man has been arrested after a 70-year-old cyclist suffered potentially life-threatening injuries in a crash, police have said.

He remains in hospital with serious injuries following a collision involving a car on Manchester Road West in the Little Hulton area of Salford at about 15:15 BST on Saturday.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson added that the bike and car had been travelling in the same direction at the time of the crash.

A 65-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Police have asked anyone with video footage or information to contact them.
