Man jailed after woman's death led to drugs find

A man has been jailed for two and a half years after drugs worth £15,000 were found in a house following a woman's death.
Police were called to the property in Fletton, Peterborough by the ambulance service following the sudden death of a 19-year-old woman.
Nikolass Pekstins, 19, was at the scene and was arrested on 1 May after drugs including cannabis, MDMA, LSD and ketamine were found in a suitcase and "bag for life", along with his clothing and passport.
The death was found to be non-suspicious, but Pekstins of Benyon Grove, Orton Malborne, later admitted possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.
Appearing at Peterborough Crown Court, Pekstins was told he would serve his sentence in a young offender institution.
He had admitted eight offences, dating back to 2021 and 2023, including the drug offences, as well as possession of an offensive weapon and a racially aggravated public order offence.
Police said the non-drugs offences related to an incident on 26 June last year when he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in Peterborough city centre.
He was found with a knuckleduster – an illegal weapon – and he was racially abusive towards a special constable while being transported into custody.
Det Con Chris Herring said: "Information from the public greatly assists us in our investigations, therefore my plea is for anyone who has concerns about dealing or consumption, to report to us so we can act. This may not always be immediate as a lot of work has to go on behind the scenes, but every piece of information helps.”
