More than 100 cannabis plants have been seized from a property and will be destroyed, said police.

Essex Police found the cannabis plants in a house in Mallows Green, Harlow, Essex, at about 06:00 BST on Monday.

A spokesperson from the force said the property had a "sophisticated" set up with a large number of mature plants and abstraction of electricity.

No-one has been arrested but officers said they were continuing with their inquiries.

Essex Police added UK Power Networks had been alerted and attended to ensure the property was safe.

Ch Insp Paul Austin said: “Illicit drugs of any kind are inextricably linked to serious violence and, often, organised crime.

“Profits from the sale of cannabis drive organised crime and also feed into the supply of other illicit Class A drugs.”
