People living in Greater Manchester's 10 boroughs will elect their next mayor on 2 May. Here's what you need to know about all of the candidates and their top priorities.

'Ordinary people across Greater Manchester want change,' says Reform UK's Dan Barker

The 48-year-old from Sale is a nuclear industry project manager and says he has the "privilege" of serving as a magistrate. He defected from the Conservatives in March after claiming the Tories had "abandoned northern areas to focus on other seats under threat from the Lib Dems in the south".

'Get back to basics' with our approach to policing, says Mr Barker

He wants to "take back our streets" by reducing crime and tackling anti-social behaviour.

He wants to build more homes in Greater Manchester

Mr Barker would adopt a "brownfield first" policy which he says would "protect our precious greenbelt" while also tackling "spiralling rents" in the region.

Public transport improvements are needed, says Mr Barker

He wants to continue the rollout of the Bee Network and deliver "genuine cross-connectivity" by bringing the Metrolink to places like Stockport, Leigh, Heywood, Bolton and Partington.

Mr Barker wants to 'restore trust in local government'

He says he wants to remove the Clean Air Zone cameras and pause all new cycle lane development pending a fit-for-purpose review.

He wants to 'deliver an economic growth plan for all'

Mr Barker worries too much focus has been put on boosting the fortunes of Manchester city centre, and promises to unlock "our region's undeniable potential" for the whole of Greater Manchester.
